Mine was doing it last night. Only 1 lug was catching on the boost pipe causing a loss in boost pressure, makes the whooshing sound. It popped off today, BANG and really smokey and loss of power. Check your boost pipe connection behind the driver side light cluster.
just had a look at this pipe - i think this is my problem - the connections are awful! seems to be quite a bit of play between the the rubber pipe in the middle and the plastic collars at each end. there's only one metal clip at each end too but looks like there is room for more maybe three?whats the best way to go about securing the connections - at first glance it doesnt look like i'd be able to jubilee clip it as the hard plastic collar goes over the rubber pipe.... are there aftermarket pipes you can buy that would do the job better?

lol talk about noob questions! ;) just am thinking about remap and want this sorted beforehand.

Ben, i'm new to the Seat world so not 100% on whats available.

Have you checked samco or other silicone hose makers to see if theres anything that would fit inreplacement of the plastic pipe that runs back under the engine cover.

The flexi from the i/c seems ok if you could just get a silicone one to fit over it so that you can properly secure a jubilee around it to stop boost leak.

Or if you know anyone that could fabricate a alu one for you.

Try these guys. http://www.performancesiliconehoses.com/bespoke.html

Sounds like it could just be the boost pipe attached to the intercooler coming loose? A common problem...had it recently myself...just got a jubilee clip and clamped it together...no problems now....half an hour to fix....it could be your turbo going but unlikely with that low mileage....do you notice a whoosh of air coming in the driver's side air vent when you accelarate? If so, that's your best bet...

Genius, that's my problem. I don't know why pipes are popping off now that i've got a new head on the engine. Maybe all the gas was going into the coolant system. :)
