When you want an MOT doing in future,I'd suggest going to your local council depot. They do the testing on council vehicles (bin lorries etc),and by law they have to be open to the public too.
They don't do repairs,so the idea of them failing vehicles to bring in work is taken out of the equation.
Look on the money saving expert website to see what others have to say about the idea of a council MOT,but I personally won't go anywhere else now,as there are too many garages just looking to take us down.

Exactly what I did last year, straight pass, no issues, no nonsense ;)

I took my Mk4 to kwik fit to get the tracking/camber checked as it was a Cat D write off, they took a quick glance at it and said: nah, mate, its well knackered , nothing we can do with that etc etc Shouldn't have bought a write off blah blah. So i took it to an independant specialist who did 4 wheel laser alignment and found that it was out by........less than 1/2 a degree!!

maybe so mate but i haven't heard anything from them so i'm gonna be ringing vosa.

you never know they might surprise you.
Im dead lucky locally, the village garage deals with all makes of motors and does bits with our passat and the leon. If they ever get stuck I get a call and its discussed. Passat went in for a cambelt service yesterday, call yesterday evening telling me it wont run right and they want to keep it overnight to check their work... Turns out it was nothing , possibly maf not plugged in firmly but their 100% honest even if their fault.
As they say you never know how good an outfit is until it goes wrong.

However, one thing ive learned is for anything other than general stuff use a vag specialist independent. The ride on reputation and experience and with our cars it makes a difference.
Hope you get it all sorted:)
