and not in the way that i would like either !

not sure if this is a problem with the climate or not to be honest. over the last few weeks as the outside temps have been dropping i have noticed the windows steaming up really badly in the morning when i leave for work and in the evening when coming to drive home. a few times there has actually been condensation on the glass.

this dries off after a few minutes with the blowers on full chat at the windscreen but i didnt get it this bad last year !

any ideas? i have bottle of rainx anti fog which i'm entertaining using at the weekend

I have noticed this too. . .seems to be when it's quite cool outside and I get in. . instantly steams up and on one or two occasions there has been quite a bit of moisture on the glass!!
It's not a big issue, but it certainly gets annoying when you have to sit and wait for it to dry!!!

If it seems to be excessively steamy, check the footwell carpets aren't wet. If they are, it most likely means the drain hole in the door is blocked so water is draining through the speaker grille or somewhere like that - into the car - rather than draining outward via the sill. Taking the door card out and unblocking the drainage hole is the fix but it's not an easy job, from what I've read.

If it's just steaming up a bit on cold mornings, it's nought to worry about. You just need to clear is with heater and air-con as others have said. ;)

(edit) - beat me to it!

Mines started to steam up too, just a pain as the windscreen is watermarked inside...a right pain to wipe clean with the appropriate cloth. What do you use to clean inside the windscreen and windows fellas? I have a number of products but none of them are really good:doh:

3M glass cleaner is really good inside and out. Doesn't stop the steaming up though.

When it gets bad in the winter I use a waffle weave dry towel on the inside. Example below.

Same problem here - aircon and/or heater usually clears it, but on rainy days whats the best temperature to keep the windows clear when driving? Rear side windows seem to fog up the worst but the windscreen is a pain as well.

Just have a comfortable temperature set with air-con on for a while. I find around 20-22°C is comfortable. The air-con dries the air so will clear misted windows faster.

Nice to see i'm not on my own... using the aircon does clear the screen quickly but i wondered if there was a reason it "seems" to be worse all of a sudden.

Will check the floor to make sure there isnt a problem... i dont think there is to be honest, if there is, it will be into the dealer as the car is only 8 months old.

Cheers, Nige

Explanation is pretty simple when you think about it.

Its cold outside, its very wet too and you are bound to dampen the floor mats and the interior of the car as a result. The moisture is trapped inside the car and slowly evaporates within the cabin, not being able to escape it forms water drops on the colder windows. All these factors culminate in condensation, not much you can do other than avoid as much dampness inside the car as possible...

Sorry that sounded like a science lesson!

The tips in the threads i listed above help, eg turning the heaters onto your feet before you turn off the night before. I think it closes the fans onto the window so its not getting exposed overnight

I have just gone from my old LCR that had no misty windows or condensation whatsoever to a newer Leon that now has it! I noticed it when picked up the car and mentioned it to the dealer who said it was normal as he had just driven it to put some diesel in! Then in evening when went to leave there it was again.

I have done a lot of reading on here and it seems 'normal' for a leon. I'll be keeping an eye on it and if it keeps happening there has to be a problem with it, can't be normal. Looks like moisture is getting in, presumably as the car is not sealed properly.

I always open my front windows slightly when i am a few minutes away from my destination, to let all the warm air out. Its not ideal but it seems to help a lot!

These dehumidifying bags are perfect, I got some recently:
http://www.renwoods.com/Air-Dry-Car-Dehumidifier-2/Product1_20054_-1_79379_11552

Actually, what they sent were much better than the picture. Rather than long bags with tied ends, each is actually a sealed unit with a vinyl underside, that sits on the dashboard or rear shelf. They provide velcro pads to stick the bags to the car upholstery, and the each unit can even be cut into 3 smaller bags if required.

But just used out of the box, they are perfect for the SEAT condensation problem, and you can dry then out over a radiator indoors. Only issue was how long they took to arrive from the website.
