My coordy is not happy, she wont start, when I turn her over she seems to catch/spark for a second then just cuts out???? I checked the fuel pump and it whirrs when the ignition is switched on so I presume its ok, the leads and plugs seem ok, sprayed all connections with WD40 but no luck??

Has anyone got any suggestions before I have to get a mechanic out and pay a small fortune.....???

Thanks,

Justin.

Dont think it can be the immobiliser, had the factory one disconnected when I had my CAT 1 fitted, when the immobilisers on it wont even turn the engine or put any electrics on....?
Im getting a spark from the plugs so I think it must be fuel related, the pump seems to be working so perhaps its an injector or blockage problem.
Gonna do some 'Taking things apart tomorrow' and have a look.

factory one is passive so no deactivation or activation required don't mean the alarm do ya ?

standard immobiliser (in key passive) will reveal symptoms exactly as you have described when not coded or not working

seen any 4mm*8mm blocks of plastic lying about lately ?

Or u play about with your key loose .....it then realise a week later that you dropped it in the house after the wife has cleaned the house a few times....

Seat ask at least 60 - 70 notes for a replacement key

Standard immobiliser lets the electrics come on and it appears to let you start....
just doesn't let the engine start and run....... not sure if it cuts the fuel pump or cuts the ignition circuit.

fires up dies immediately - immobiliser most likely (try spare key if possible)

wont fire at all - check dodgy alarm first - never know

fuel is ok - check coil/cap/rotor (coils common specially when hot)
spark ok - check fuel pump/relay

no turn at all ? - battery flat probably :)

poor running cold / fine warm - temp sensor in thermo housing 4 pin usually
run ok cold / crap when warm - same as above

usual checks - just dig em out logically see if it helps

add to this various engines have other common faults like flywheel sensor (16v) etc etc

all good fun huh :):):)
