starter motor location

hi does anyone have an idea where the starter motor for a seat leon 1.6 s. its squeeling when i start it so i need to remove it a picture would be great as im a bit of a numpty

the motor doesnt normaly sqeel mate you sure its not a belt?

someone said they think the starter motor maybe sticking. its just a short squeel as soon as i turn they key and its not every time. ive looked it up on this forum and some people have had the same problem

yea i know what ya mean had it on my punto wip it off and clean it first see if that works befor you go spending do you know what it looks like???

Yeah will be the starter then. Its at the front of the gearbox.

looks liike this i think?????? aparently its at the front to left of the gear box but thats just what google says

is it easy to get to

while your there do you have any idea how to get the gear stick gator off and also my central locking works but not with the key fob put the key in and it opens and closes the doors, ive tried calibrating it but no luck

the key splits in half you need to replace the fob half i need to do the same. the gator proberly just pops off i think there cliped but not sure they normaly are just a couple of bolts but make sure you discon3ect the batery of youll be getting more than you bargined for

Starter motor is underneath the battery tray, so you have to take the battery out, then the tray. Make sure you have your radio's security code before you disconnect the battery, or the radio will not work once you reconnect it.

You also have to take off the undertray center and one side piece to get at the lower mounting.
