starter moter problem

got a 2003 leon cupra tdi 150,original starter has 11 teeth but garage have give me a 10 tooth version and say it will fit.anyone know if its ok to use ?

i wouldent trust it 10 teeth will have different pitch to teeth and the fact its one short .sounds like there talking sh1t leave it well alone
