If I hold the car "on the clutch" and the revs drop sometimes I feel a knocking sensation (in time with the engine) through the pedals and a bit through the steering wheel....

Any ideas?

nah think everyones does it

or atleast mine does

Thats good news......seeing as your pretty in the know, can I ask another question?

When I turn my steering wheel it feels like a knuckle or steering cv joint is clonking, any ideas or does something need some lube?

Cheers!;)

Last time I felt what you described in your first post, my clutch let go 100 miles later taking the gearbox with it.

I was looking at the wheel hubs the other day, it seems fairly easy to take them off, though i'm not sure how the drive shafts come out.

Could anyone knock up a few lines of advice when taking off the hubs? can the CV joints be replaced with out the need for garage macheinery such as a press? I think at least one of my CV joints is gone, possibly both, but dont wanna pay for garage labour when i'm happy to do the work myself.

Also is there just a CV joint in the hub or a bearing too which may need replaced?

Cheers

its all lies mate I know only a very small portion of what the hell goes on with these cars...theres so much to learn about them :censored:

from what your saying that is quite likely your cv, happened to me last year, is it louder when you turn one way?

could quite easily just be a stone lodged somewhere by the caliper/disk though!

i know this sounds stupid, but i have a knockingon my steering and i've played around with it for ages wheels off looign around and all!!!!!

the other day i happened to put the steering wheel in the upright position, and the knocking stopped so i looked at the base of the steering wheel, and because it's adjustable, there is a knuckle, and when turned...and the wheel in the lowest position....it knocks against the clutch pedal.

there is evidence of wearing (minute wearing) but it's not a problem as such it's just annoying.
