Is it me or are the Leon OEM speakers bloody brilliant. Don't know if mine are factory upgrades or standard in all Mk1 leons. I seem to have 4 speakers and 4 tweeters. Crisp sound and good bass even when turned up loud, what make are they and what's everyone else's like ?

they are good. i have replaced mine in the front for Focal and there is not a big difference in the sound to be honest.

i have the OEM speakers, pioneer DEH-P88RS II radio/headunit, audison LRX amp, peerless xxls 10" sub.

i use time correction and the 16 band EQ in the headunit, also using the HPF (high pass filter) in the headunit to cut the deep bass at 50hz from the oem speakers, this way i dont stress the OEM speakers with sub bass.

the OEM speakers are great, but i would like to have a little more kick from them.

they are good, i planned to put my amp/sub etc in when i got this car but didnt bother as it really wasnt needed. the standard head unit is a bit restrictive, sounds much better once replaced.

allot of it has to do with the door card build, they are very sturdy and vibration on them is very low. plus having decent speakers in the rear doors as well helps as more cone area which helps. I love them no need to upgrade really. add a sub and thats your lot tbh.

I will be running a sub (mayby) one day *wobble wobble*

To answer your question OP, i always thought they were Bose, but im still unsure. Very very good sound quality, i havent even changed the HU cos im obsessed with OEM look, so if i was to upgrade it would of been the becker grand prix 7900

would be impressed if they were Bose, would explain the quaility. Ive changed the headunit and added a rubbish 12" kenwood sub, soon to be changed for a 10" JL Audio one.

i was once told by our local in car installer that the standard head unit is internally amp'd he told me you can hear this when you fire up the radio because you hear a few crackles of a amp powering up for a few seconds..... can anyone varify this.... as stated the std oem headunit and speakers are bang on

I hear this on the Skoda symphony head unit. If it's been on VOL 0 for a while, and I turn it up, it crackles a bit. The amp we have for the tannoy system at work does the same thing. Makes a massive fart noise when you turn it on.

Hello the speakers are from Blaupunkt

On my ex-leon I installed an alpine HU and a 4 channel amplifier, 2 chans for a 12" woofer and 2 chans for the front speakers and 2 HU amplified channels for the rear speakers and oh well :funk: that was enough :D

I always had the idea to replace the front speakers with a focal set but I never made it as the blaupunkts sounded so well...

Same here. Took my sub/amp out of my old car ready to put in but I was shocked when I found how good the standard setup is.

No its not you ............... ive never heard another OEM system thats so good in a car from the same price point . Especially with the lowdness button on . When the car was new to the market, way back when, it was a keen selling point for the salesmen to demonstate on test drives !

I'll let you into a secret, while the speakers are very basic in deed, it's because they are fitted in a sealed box, due to the way the door is designed the inside of the door is sealed off with that huge silver inner panel when you take door card of, this is why if you replace the factory ones you don't need to buy big to get results, a decent head unit really is all you need, mine like most sound awesome plenty of bass mid and tweet, although for my ears the tweets could be a bit sharper
