Looks nice mate, have you tried taking the weather strip off the back of the engine to get a bit more sound and a bit better air flow in the engine bay?

No the one at the back mate, theres a few threads on here about it, with an open filter it does help when your on the road (but then if you have the weather strip on it may counter act).

I was thinking of doing that but behind the bumper, turns out some of the rb**det engines (skyline) use the same size pipework so that mushroom bolts right on! though i heard they kill hot wires???
let me know how that works out long term!!

I'm going to buy a universal filter today and do the same to mine. Its cheaper than buying a full induction kit and means i can still use the normal cold air feed. I was thinking of getting yellow airfilter and hoses but i think i'm going to break up all the yellow with some nice blue hoses and filter. Pics to be uploaded when done.

Just make sure the filler you get does'nt need oil, Also the OE feed pipe very small personally I would atleast chang the feed pipe to a 3" one

One thing i've noticed on my airbox is that under the MAF entry in the lid, there seems to be another pipe, is this a crankcase breather or something else? if it is, where is yours as i can't see it anywhere in the pics. I know halfrauds do some small crankcase vents quite cheap.

You can use a filter. but tbh the fumes from the crankcase are toxic, so you really don't want any of that coming into the car at all.

You could route the pipe downwards under the car maybe?

it goes into the lid next to where the MAF is so this will be the part of the lid that has to be cut away to allow the air filter to be in the same position as yours. If i can't see of anywhere to put it i guess i'll try to feed it down under the engine, the hose is about 2 foot in length and come from down the bottom front side of the engine. I guess i could always drill a small hole in the bottom plate on the filter and feed it into it.
