Hi,

After a bit of help please,

Keeping getting a loud squealing noise when i accelerate only seems to happen when i am over 30mph and in 3rd gear or above.
Starts at 1800rpm goes around 2100rpm, can hear it inside the car or when i have the window down.
Also When i am on the motorway and want to accelerate car is at 60+mph and revs below 2000rpm can be heard.

Any idea's tried revving car but no sound only happens when i am driving.

Dont fancy losing my car for a day at the stealers if this is normal.

Thanks

Paul....

Hi,

Loud enough to be heard inside, not head turning i think. Also aways at the same rev range

Sounds like pulleys or belts if it's when the engine is under load. I'd say it wasn't a home fix unless you went about fitting a new everything. Not familiar with the TDi engine myself mate. I can't imagine this is normal though so your best bet is to go to the stealers. Will they not supply you with a courtesy car whilst they work on it?

Is there a rattle as well or is it just a squeal?

early VAG air con compressors used to be problematic, you could try running the air con on ECON mode and see if anything changes, you'll more than likely end up at the dealer.

Someone mentioned a courtsey car! They'll give you a free one if the car's under warranty. Just so you know! Although i had to sort insurance out on it (also free from my insurers- a ball ache but free)! ;)

I have this similar issue, happens in 3rd gear or higher and always when under hard acceleration from low rev's, so when engine is under load. It does only last for a few 100rpm and can be heard faintly within the car but definitely don't think it would turn heads outside. I would describe it as a very faint squeal similar to that of a loose fan belt but not as aggressive so i would agree it is probably a belt or pulley.

Update,

Stealers thinks its a belt tensioner, so they have ordered a new one.

Hopefully it will cure the horrible noise!!!

I see... I wonder if that's what's causing my mysterious noise too? My dealer is a fair drive away so I might wait and see if this cures yours and if it does, i'll give them a heads up to have the part ready so that i dont have to make numerous trips! Keep me posted mate.
