squeaky belt...

Hello all

When my Leon is cold I'm getting a rev related squeaking from what I think is the auxiliary belt.

I have no idea how to remedy it though.

Any pointers please? Did I search but not much came up about actually deciding if a new belt was needed or if it was just an adjustment needed or what.

Thanks

Mine had an irritating squeek when i bought it, just a constant noise on idle, took top timing cover off and it went, come back, changed belt and it went come back, and never had it since .... weird car! Could be the belt and/or tensioner as said.

15MM spanner, decent pin or nail, and 13mm socket.

15mm spanner goes on the square hump on the tensioner in order to remove tension, insert pin to hold it, take old belt off. remove tensioner 3 X 13mm bolts, install new one, same again and pin it new belt on and take the pin out, hey presto. Not sure what needs to be removed on the cupra without seeing the bay, but cupra r its the charge pipe and bracket for it and perciver with a small space.

hmm ok will have a look at it. It gets louder and squeaks more frequently between tickover and 1500 revs then goes, and only when cold.

Bizarrely, getting another odd squeaky noise, which seemed to be linked to a funny burning smell I got earlier?!
