It's amazing how people think they know it all about blow-off valves etc. and in reality know very little. MANY people have run logs when running a full 100% atmospheric blow-off valve and found that their car runs rich for around 1/10th of a second, when venting excess boost it goes 'rich-lean-open air' in the space of 1 second or less, so for 99.99% of the time their air/fuel ratio is unaffected. The ECU is capable of compensating for any changes in A/F ratio within a certain range, so for the most part it can handle it just fine.

Having said that I find that a full re-circ. valve such as the Forge 007P or Bailey DV30 offers the best performance, my car feels quickest in full re-circ. mode, I'm not bothered about BOV sound anymore, so I run a Forge 006PA in full re-circ.

as posted on another thread

I can assure you we bring no products to market without exetnsive testing , over 6 months on one car then on Cupra , Ibiza, TT , Octavia , all with great results , just so you know we have sold over 3000 since Jan 07 and we are today back ordered on 100 + , I would think these figures speak for themselves , On some 1.8Ts the valve will go straight on with no problems, some times as in the case above the valve can take a littel more setting up , it will depend on several factors , such as whether you have a CAI or your chipped etc . IF you are wish to run a blow off style valve withe no issues , no check engine lights etc then the Split R is the way to go , if not go with the 007P ...hope this informations lets you know a few facts about Forge and its testing

forge, i believe you do about 3 different springs for the 007, can you tell us how many 'clicks' on the split r is equivalent to each of the different springs you do for the 007?

i realise that you may not be able to be exact, but i would have thought you have a rough idea (within 1 or 2 clicks)?

the reason i ask is that i have no turbo gauge to know for sure how my car is performing while trying to set up this valve so im really just guessing. my car is a standard lcr currently set at 15 clicks.

I would give it a try setting it up in 100% recirc mode rather than hybrid mode as i found it easier to determine the correct setting like that as the blow off noise can be decieving in my opinion.

when mine was standard i think i had mine set to around the 20 click mark.
but after fitting other parts i reverted to recirc mode to try and improve it and then put it back to hybrid once i was happy

i did actually try and put it into full recirc mode on the weekend but couldnt undo the blow off piece (my fault for having it on so tight). will prob have to remove the vacuum hose and what not to get a good enough grip so will do that soon.

thanks for the input everyone.

so basically to sum it up.....
if you are patient and willing to tweak until the optimum setting is achieved, the split r is the way to go.

however, if you want something that will work 100% straight out of the box, do not go for the split r.

IMHO
i have faith that forge have thoroughly tested this product, due to the fact that so many people use their products and are totally happy with them and have no problems. take the 007p, god knows how many people use them! front intercoolers etc...the list goes on.

i see it that the split r is the next gen of the 007p , and as i have run one of these for 2 years, and the quality of the product in design and manufacture is superb, i think i will now quite happily step up to a split r on my beloved lcr.

now time to face the flack of disagreement..............:D

i have the oo7 on mine with k&n cone and its pretty loud although boost pressure does affect noise levels.im running around 1.2-3bari think??!!!. sounds really tinny and quite weird at first!!!!
does the job great wouldnt bother changing mine!!

Ive got a split r for my cupra r, had to take it off because i couldnt get my car to run normally with it on, think the setting up is a job for the professionals!
Aparantly, it is the best one tho?

fitted my split r on my almost standard leon
was very easy adjusting it was even more easy just let the car idle turn the top of the split-r until u dondt hear a rattle or just 3 turns
and thats it
sounds great
no problems or foults
but am wondering could it be reversed :p
70% blow off
30% recirculate

No mate thats why the split r works because the BOV is set at a level that does not effect the ecu. any more blow off and it could cause ploblems as the vale may well as be a bov which everyone know can cause issues
