After what happened with the dent and then having the BIG 60,000 mile Service i thought wicked my car will be fine for a while but i was wrong

I have to say, its nothing that bad but its still frustrating!

To cut a long story short, the 'Bottom Hose' has split, meaning the garage (who VERY kindly took her in this morning and gave me a car to drive too) had to take out my Intercooler and other bits to get at it, they said they cant move the hose and can see its been rubbing, so every time i drive it its wearing away which has now caused the break! They also said they will try and fit some rubber around it to stop it rubbing but they cant move where its sat! They have ordered a new one but it wont be in until tomorrow, so i think i will get her back then if it all goes ok!

What would this be rubbing up against?

Oh well im not moaning as its a car and things go wrong, i just seem to have not seen as much of her as i would have liked in the last month and its now going to cost in the region of £500

my bottom hose went in jan, was a tiny hole but under pressure it would just piss out

never figured out wot it rubbed on but think it might have been part of te fan casing? dunno was a while ago

had it back in 2 days with a new pipe, unfortunatly with the new coolant and labour costs the total costwas 3 times as much as the hose itself cost

Its right at the bottom of the radiator! They have had to take the Intercooler out and loads of other bits too so quite a long job

2 min job if your flash, thats a daily job going under there! i manage to pop IC hoses off every day!

Bottom hoses can be expensive, but it shouldnt be rubbing, and they only need to replace it and bleed cooling system, 2 min job really.

Although it is a main dealer, so they will make something out of nothing.

90 quid? get yourself some aftermarket pipework for that!

I didnt have much choice with where i tookd it to be honest as i needed it done quickly and this garage do all the work on my car (since its out of Warranty)

They are VW Specialists (used to work at Colbournes) and do all my families cars too and they are about 20 seconds from my house! They even pick my car up, let me pay for the work sometimes two weeks after its done and they drop the car back so i cant really complain

Is it quite a big hose?

They said they will try and pad round it with some rubber or something to stop it rubbing?
