Speakers not functioning correctly with Aux input

Hi all,

A strange problem has developed on Mrs T's 09 Ibiza 1.4 SC where the Aux input now outputs very little sound. It worked fine for a while but now there is almost no sound on the left side speakers when playing music from her phone - or my phone using an Aux cable into the Aux input. At first I thought that the problem was with the speakers, however CDs and radio are fine, there is no problem with sound all round. It's only using the Aux input its gone all weird. Sound comes out the right side of the car fine but the left side is really feint. If you twiddle the balance to the right, all fine, turn all to the left there is the feint sound of music, so there is something but its dead quiet. CD and radio fine, so not sure what the problem is. Tried different aux cables which I know are working and used both our phones to test it. I'm thinking the aux input on the car has developed a fault but don't know where to go from here. Any ideas?

Cheers,

TeamBosie

My old 11plate ibiza used to do this. Had to make sure cable was pushed in with a click. If not, try a new cable, and if that doesn't work then I would get it looked at by a garage see what they say.

Id say that the 3.5mm input is broken. Have had same kind of problems when my phones 3.5mm out was broken or when my headphone jack was old enough.

If you go on the aux bit on the stereo press the the right and hand button which says aux volume and make sure it's on 3 that will make it loud enough and if that doesn't work try a new aux lead

Cheers all for the replies, some good information to take away. I've already tried different AUX leads which i know work fine so its not that that's the problem. Definitely thinking its the AUX input which may be playing up at this stage. I'll let you know how I get on with my troubleshooting :)

That's the last thing you want breaking, £80 from the stealer for the unit, expensive for that

Still not sorted this one yet, I am on to ******* to see if they can tell me how much and whether I need to swap out the Aux socket or the whole row of buttons by the gear stick. With a CD or radio the speakers are absolutely fine and the Aux cables are fine, I use them at home and tested the one in my Jag. Saw a post on the ******* that a few people have had this problem and needed a new row of buttons for about £150 just so they could replace the Aux input. :O

I never posted a solution to this: It was indeed a new switch pack required as the aux input was screwed. The wife is happy again! Cost me just under £50 and fitted it myself in about 2 mins.
