Hi, the other day no.2 popped up, and also it did it today. The car is making a really weird noise like its running on 3 cylinders. Also the plug seems to be quite mucky. What could it be? Just replacing plugs? Or Coilpack? thanks :wtf:

wtf are you talking about!?!? the eggy smell is unburnt petrol

Eggy smell will be the sulphur compounds in the unburned fuel due to no ignition in cylinder 2.

But an eggy smell could (very very rarely) come from the battery if the sulphuric acid was reduced to hydrogen sulphide.

But in this case it will be the fuel.

Cheers, went into Volkswagen and got a new coil pack. Also replaced all the plugs. Left the car idling then pulled out the coilpacks too see which one didnt change the sound.. and hey presto i found it, swopped it and it runs like a dream now. Thanks for the advice all!!

you didnt need a new coil pack if it was only popping up. all you had to do was cut a v out of the rubber side and this would of allowed the air to bypass and stop it lifting up

keep for a spare now!
