well i still say they are a go! deffo unique, besides it will cover the scratches on my mirror cover, as long as they look 98% like a standard fit can't see any problems

Hopefully I'll have a few pics of them on the car tomorrow. Probably not fitted, but to get an idea

yeah I thought that as soon as DK mentioned it

and in reference to RS6's point, again, anything is an improvement on my current mirrors as they are chipped and scratched to bugger

Ha ha, I'll do my best, weather permitting.

Wondering though, when it comes to bonding it, what's the best way to do it? Is there some kind of specialised bonding agent? Is there something that can be taken off easily enough afterwards, or do we think that maybe getting new covers might be the way to go, just in case of a change of mind?

i think double sided tape won't be up the job in the long run, it will be a case of some strong adhesive like no more nails, but very unlikey you can go back to how it was before

shame they are not replacement parts you can interchange from black to carbon

Ooo, didn't think about Blu Tack

And no RS6, double sided tape won't be up to it, because water will get to it and it will loose adhesiveness. It would probably be an OK solution to try it mind you

couple of nine inch nails:lol:

no nails stuff is good, although not sure it would ever come off again. Might do if you heated it up and carefully took the covers off

OK, I've been out to the car and taken a few photos. The next step is to contact the seller and advise him that I want my money back. Here's why:

Are they anything like the same shape naturally?

09122009636.jpg

NOPE!

Are they right when held down in place?

09122009637.jpg

09122009638.jpg

09122009639.jpg

NOPE!

And was the £6 delivery charge worth it?
09122009640.jpg

NOPE!

I could live with some of the alignment issues, but the fact that they cover so little by the hinge makes it clearly a mirror-cover-cover and I couldn't put up with that.

Hmm. I like my vents mind you.

I've emailed the guy already, if I don't get a reply in 24 hours then I'll take it via the official eBay returns process

As a suggestion would you not want to work with the guy to get a proper set made up? :)

Hmm, maybe. I think with all of the fixings that it would probably be too complicated though, and the extra cost will eat in to my brake-refurb and climatronic replacement funds :(
