Hi All,

So, twice now while driving along, I have had the error message "SOS error: go back to dealer". The sat nav positioning then freezes and the whole infotainment refuses to do anything, radio stops etc... (although aircon and some car settings do work). A reset just leaves a screen with spinning wheel and message "loading settings".

1st time it didn't recover until I parked up for an hour. This time I will see in a bit what happens when I get back to the car.

Anyone else seen this?

My VIN is 22***

My car has been pretty well behaved so far but had the same problem over the weekend. Like you it seemed to fix itself in an hour or so but if it happens again it's going back the dealer. My VIN is 21*** and running the 1790 software so wondering if the 1803 software sorts it.

My car has done this but warning does not reset. No info system for for four days now and local dealer can’t book in for another week .. I’m. Not happy as car is only 2 weeks old .. I’ve just returned a car to vw group ( ŠKODA octavia ) as had multiple and continuing warnings and alerts dispite being with the dealer 3 times … please tell me there is a fix

What's the general consensus on whether Cupra are actually able to fix this?? Is it worth booking in to the garage as mine is intermittent it won't be demonstrating the issue

I will be interested to hear how you get on, mine is doing a similar thing but manages to reset itself after leaving the car for an hour.

I get 2 clicks of interferance through the sound system about 30 secs before it packs up and as I have been driving to the same place for my work the last week, it's doing it at the same spot in the road. I reckon it drops the signal and if it doesn't come back quick enough to connect, you get the warning message is my assesment.

I have started taking pics to document the frequency before I book it in.

One thing I did learn is not to try and reset the infotainment system when you get the warning message as it then goes into the perpetual loading screen with nothing working until you switch the car off for an hour or so.

Car came out of garage and all fine for 3 days .. just had fault re occurred .. also the dealer charged me for insurance on the loan car which I will be asking head office to refund .. I’m already fed up with the car . Ibe had for 4 weeks .one week with no info system stereo sat nave ect .. 2 days in the garage and now back to square one .. as I have just had a month of exactly the same issues with a Skoda I can only say that this is appalling and they should not be delivering cars that are not fit for purpose .. another month of grief ahead . Thanks vw group ..

I’ve had a double pop a few times also and have had to reboot the screen but nothing more serious than that.
Seemed to happen when my phone stopped charging on the wireless charger, usually 30 seconds after it was put in there.

Got SOS error today while driving on motorway. Later on, I realised navigation lost location, after sign recognition started changing between 40 and 30 on 40mph road. I didn't use navigation at the time, so didn't notice it. According to car, I went for a swim in Queen Mary Reservoir.

We'll see when it recovers. I will be driving the car in next 20 minutes again and doing a few stops for shopping.

I wonder if it's car module failure or it's losing contact with the base. But not sure why navigation would lose location at the same time.

I've been driving in Spain with mine for the last month. Not one error...

Auto driving also works better on the right side of the road...

I think SOS error is something to do with the mobile signal being lost and then the car throwing a wobbly...

The globe icon disappeared as well, so might be lost communication or temporary fault with comms module.

I'm not really bothered by this, I use TomTom for navigation anyway.

Just following up on this, I learnt from the Golf forum that if you put the privacy settings in the lowest setting ie not sharing any info it fixes the SOS issue.

I did this today and did a 2 hour drive and all seemed to be ok. I have started using the car in Android Auto mode so restricting the online services are not really causing a problem but will still be booking the car in to have this issue sorted.

Forgive my ignorance (new owner/user) My Formentor seems to be plagued with software issues including the double pop sound and sos error….if I change the privacy settings will I not be able to use the app to check on charging status etc?

I dont think so. I don't have the hybrid version so the app is a bit pointless and I haven't been using it anyway.

This morning, on the A13, I had the double pop, followed by the two icons in the top right of the screen going out, then the “SOS, go to dealer” message. I ignored it, continued to my destination and switched off. Two hours later all was well again. On the return journey, I got the pops and disappearing icons again a few times (the icons came back in between times) but this time no SOS message. I’ll try tweaking the privacy settings to see if it makes a difference.

Same issue has been occurring for me but only when I'm on motorway . Disappears as soon as I turn the car on and off again. Not sure what's going on but think it must be some sort of software glitch.
