Correct me if I'm wrong but surely upragrading the front ARB is not a good idea on a car that understeers (as the standard mk4 does, well at least the FR does from my experience).

ARB's work by resisting the roll in the suspension and therefore increasing the load transfer of the wheels, resulting in decreased grip for that axle. So upgrading the ARB at the front will reduce grip there and increase understeer. That's why the rear ARB is such a good mod as it reduces the rear end grip so increases oversteer which cancels out some of the understeer, meaning that more speed can be taken into a corner without sliding straight off.

Strut braces are different as they stiffen up the chassis and reduce the flex in it which is better for handling.

Rhys, I'm guessing your system is a complete de-cat from the turbo back, leading to a backbox? or is there a midbox in there aswell, How does it sound ? :)

Cheers again Frazer

Sorry for late reply, I found doing the front and rear ARB at the same time as my remap dramatically improved the handling, the car was more planted in the corners and didn’t reduce any grip when entering corner's at speed. If you didn’t want to do both then i would just stick with doing the rear one first tho. I got the seat sport strut brace later but i found the front and rear ARB alone improved the handling better. I got ARB’s through Awesome gti and the KW front arb was a bit more expensive than the whiteline rear arb. Coilovers on now so handling is sorted out a treat!

As for the exhaust as CJ Ramze said it! Can’t recommend pro speed enough, they did a great job and yes it is a straight through from turbo back with decat pipe. no mid box. Sounds great if you ask me, not like a bus/tractor! subtle when its just ticking over but kicks in nicely from around 2500rpm, the turbo whistle it gives now is much louder too ;)
