Model Year 20/21 Software Update Problems

Hi, I came across this forum by chance and would appreciate some help. Unfortunately, I'm getting desperate.

It's about my Cupra Formentor 2020, 2.0 petrol engine with 310 hp.

Unfortunately, I feel I have experienced all the teething troubles of the first model, most frequently the electronic problems.

I have a specific question about the entertainment display, which constantly switches on and off. The Cupra workshop said that the controller was probably defective and that no firmware updates were possible.

It feels like the entertainment display restarts every few minutes and occasionally doesn't switch on at all. In rare cases, it doesn't actually switch off at all and runs as normal. I just opened the service menu and there was no restart at first. I am attaching a few pictures of the software status. I could imagine that a newer software could solve the problems without buying a new expensive part. The question now is, how can I solve the problem myself with suitable software and, if possible, instructions. Many thanks in advance.

If the dealer are saying they can't reload the software due to a corrupt module theres no real way you can reload the software yourself either. That is an out of date version, but the issue is likely if the module wont stay running long enough it wont be possible to update it.

Yes, I can understand your approach, but if the controller seems to be defective, I can try my luck on my own. Do you have any idea what software I can use?

Beginner's mistake... you have to go from firmware 16XX to firmware 17XX then to firmware 18XX and then firmware 19XX... you're lucky the module isn't junk.
Do you mean that the dealership screwed up and these errors may have been caused by incorrect updating? How can I solve the problem, do you have any ideas? Which software would be right at this moment?

The problem is that I am not in Germany at the moment and the VAG workshops here in Turkey leave a lot to be desired in terms of quality.

Your car will have tonnes of updates outstanding that are designed to be performed at the same time to establish a new baseline. You can't DIY 99% of them

It's also likely your navigation, TSR & PACC will stop working (if enabled) as you'll be missing a license for predictive route data, this can only be resolved by a dealer or a specialist such as ourselves.

There are idiot proof guides for each and every one of these updates, there's no reason for a dealer not to be able to perform them.

There’s an infotainment update that’s two updates in one. It’ll take your system from to 1896 from memory, then you can update to 1969. Take note of what I’ve said above and the warning I included

Unfortunately, my experience with the VAG Group - I've also been to Poland and Bulgaria - is that the electronics "apparently" indicate a fault and then the part has to be replaced. They no longer really go looking for faults, but primarily sell new parts. Typical throwaway society. That's the reason to do it yourself.

An example: I went to the Seat dealer in Poland, who checked the faults using OBD2 and said that various parts needed to be replaced. Cost the equivalent of 6000 Euro. We are only talking about electronics here.

Ask the big Google for the file... Connect the charger to the battery correctly to support it.

I have tried several files, some here with checksum errors, or they were not accepted at all. I think I have found versions for other hardware. Unfortunately, I have not found exactly the right one for my hardware, neither via Google nor with the help of AI.
