Hi, seem to have a few strange noises happening on my car which are just a bit annoying. I have a standard Mk2 GTi 8v.

1. When i accelerate really hard i get a knocking noise under the car, sounds like middle if car, just behind front seats. Thought it might be exhaust but that seems ok.

2. Also get a scraping type of noise coming from n/s/f wheel when turning right, at low and high speeds, still got standard 15" wheels on so shouldn't be catching anywhere.

3. And finally, getting i kind of clicky noise whenever i accelerate, even just touching accelerator then stops when i take my foot off pedal.

Any ideas  Would really appreciate any help.

Thanks

1. I have a banging noise that sounds like its from under the car.. Put you hand on the roof in your car in the middle and see if it stops. Mine does I think its the Ariel cable or something hitting the roof from under the roof lining.

Or on my old car - were the handbrake is under the casing the cable sometimes knocks on the floor so it could be that. That sounded like the exhaust.

2. Maybe a wheel bearing???

and 3. I don't have a clue.

Hope that helps a little.

1 - Check the positioning of the centre silencer. If this is wrong it will move under load and bang up against the braces that the heatsheld are held on with.

2 - Check the protective shield on the discs and the hoses. Also check the pads.

3 - Er.. no idea.. Does it sound engine based?

check your engine mounts as well i rekon.

Pedal box would only be cluctch based as throttle isnt part of the main pedal box. Check it tho. They do go if youv got a heavy pedal. Do a clutch as well and all problems will be sorted if the pedal box is your problem.

Exhust is a common problem with noises, especially heat shields and the bracket that holds it up, get a rubber to sit between and noise will be reduced.

Hope this helps
