Well a few weeks and 2K miles into the ownership of my first SEAT, and I'm pretty pleased. The Altea is lovely to drive and handles suprising well for a large (read tall) car. The fit and finish seems good although the paint seems to chip very easily - I've had to touch up a few stonechips already.

The car is actually quicker than I expected (2.0TDi) but is certainly thirstier, I've had a number of 1.9TDI Volkswagens and they've all been far more economical - by at least an extra 10MPG.

The kids really like going out in it, they really appreciate the extra space compared to my previous daily.

It's a good job that I like it really, as I'm stuck with it for three years!

Yes it's thirstier than the 1.9, yes the paint is very easy to chip & scratch, and yes it's a fun drive. I'd agree with all you said.

I had one just like yours (in silver, even with the same wheels!!)
