Snapped Rear ARB Bracket

Went to change the rear discs today and found this...

I'm sure there used to be two brackets here.

Not the best idea to use aluminium brackets to hold all the twist of the ARB is it?

They've never sat right, both have always been the same, angled into the centre of the car...

You can see where the bracket has started to bend on this side as well.

Anyone else using H+R rear ARB?

not sure if the links on the H&R bar are the same as the neuspeed one im using but i drilled into the rear axle and mounted it staight to that with no need for the extra bracket

it's been on there for about a year now with no probs so far

I had a look on raldes just now but couldnt see that lot, nice one!

Just have to work out the sizes etc.. now i think unless you can buy the neuspeed ones on their own, might see if Awesome can do them.

Different way of doing it, but looks alright to me.

Looking at the position of the end of the bar on mine i'm seriously considering drilling the rear beam to fix it.

align them when sitting on the level with no preload req'd to fit the bolts, and space em out so they line up is my advise. Some awkward looking angles in these pictures..

Thats how i done it bill, awkward angles were seen on both sides.

What i seen installing it it looks like the bar was either too wide or the angle of the bars was too great as it tended to hit the rear beam at the suspension side.

Thanks hooch, i'll send alex a PM.

The links are really different roly, i'm guessing yours looks like this one...

I need to get some of these drop links, anyone knows who sells them?

I'm tempted to do what you've done as well.

Is that my car? ;)
It does look like the bar is to big or not bent in enough (as you said).
I know it's not cheep but might be worth getting a nuspeed ARB and sell the other one on.

As bill said the angles look all wrong in these pics of the H&Rs and can not be helping.

has anyone got a pic of the arb in full fitted,as i've got one to fit and am unsure where to fit the bushes and how the brackets line up, i only ask as it's a neuspeed one with bill's brackets and don't really want them snapping like philW's.

sorry to hi-jack the thread

The more i think about it and the more i look at my photos when i fitted it the more i think the bar is just wrong, its looks nothing like that pic bill where the inside of the bar is in line vertically with the bracket.

I'm not overly keen on it at all tbh olly, and the front one is even worse, just a plain bar that you re-use the standard eye bolt with smaller bushes.

I'll try the bar with some drop links and take it from there, i'm going to measure up the distance between the brackets vs. the distance between the bar ends to see how much i'm out and maybe take some oxy to it. ;)

When i do re-install i'll take some photos.

eibach front is same.. expect you to try and fit a large bar thru std bushes!!! 'mare of a job.
Neuspeed higher quality fitment, but higher price too.

They do come with different bushes, but i'm not convinced. I know Craig! had them fitted but i'm not sure how much of a nightmare they are to do, but as you say, 25mm bar through an eye bolt thats used to take a lot smaller isnt goin to be fun.

mk2 golf ones from eibach did'nt used to come with any front bushes than go thru the wishbone on the eyelet. the eyelet itself was std bushes which I had real issues with fitting the larger bar thru
