Hello everyone,

Decided to show off my Leon.
Bought it in 2022, car is manufactured at 2018, had nice package from factory - leather interior, full led lights, ACC, Line assistant, DSG, VR panel, MIB2 High, actually quite nice package for Style version. Ah it have 1.6 diesel engine with 85kw, for me it is enough as it is daily car, cruising to work and so (sunday car is Kodiaq).

And then... Browsing internet and forums, I can't sit still and retrofitting begins... :D

Will write about retrofits in backward order, and will post some older retrofits later.

So.. This time is about retrofitting memory seats.
As Kodiaq have memory seats, I was always wanted them also in seat as sometimes with this car drives also wife. So started to search, and found Ergo seats from Octavia 4 in mint condition, black leather and so, but missed this deal due somebody was bought it faster. Those seats had ventilation and so but ehh nothing this time.

I continued to search, it taked few months, I was looking for both front memory seats, but no luck. Then suddenly appeared memory seats from Kodiaq for sale, driver seat was with blown airbag, no leather, but the price was great and even control modules was under the seats (price for seats was like price only for control modules). So searched a bit in internet about to construction of seats itself, luckily I taked out seat from my Kodiaq to test fitment and it fitted nice, but not great (seat height is bit higher in minimal position) but it was like I need, so I bought them.

Going to pick up seats to another country also was like a small adventure with my 5 years old son, but this story is not about that...

So bringed seats home, after few days started to tear down new seats untill frame, and then teared Leon seats, and no wonder, Leon cushions was fit nicely to Kodiaq frames! :) Even connectors for wiring under seats fitted Leon<>Kodiaq. And Airbag from Leon too was fitted on Kodiaq frame, actually it was same looging, just different fitting holder which can be changed to needed one. I was happy enough, because in internet there is not much information for such a transformations... So done both seats, and then started wiring, It was not hard, made my own wiring combining Kodiaq and Leon wiring and it works great for me.

Putted everything together was no wonder, everything worked after correct codings and so, but only in Infotainment 5F there is appearance problems for "Easy Entery" function menu, probably somebody can help with this.

After a while started to dream about massage in drivers seat, started to search for module, and viola, found used module in Poland, for very VERY cheap price. Immediately contacted seller if he ships to my Country, and after on week I received module.
Was spent a few weeks for correct to find correct datasets for this as it appeared new moduly with no dataset on it... But at the end now I have memory seats with massage function, and everything works great.]

For now is enough, a bit long story for one retrofit, thanks for reading.

Here is some pictures from process.

Now will write about blind spot retrofit.
Some time collected information about this retrofit. Then started to collect correct parts.
When parts was arrived, reflashed modules on bench.
000053198591_%23_3_%23_Slavixs.jpg

Then when all parts was received started to install them.
Wiring was from aliexpress, was need to redone it as wiring was for 5Q radars but I have 2Q...
Then changed mirrors from Arona.
As I seen only retrofits on pre face lift models where everything went well, then with FL models there is problem with radar mounts, there is no place for third screw, so I putted some hard automotive foam under mounts to avoid vibrations and so.

000053198590_%23_3_%23_Slavixs.jpg

000053198589_%23_3_%23_Slavixs.jpg

000053198580_%23_3_%23_Slavixs.jpg

When I thought that hardest part is behind and all problems solved, it started even worse, it was not possible to fit rear bumper back..
So looked for places which not let me put the bumper back and found out that radar mount edges are those who shits everything up.
So decided to trim them down till radar. And done some hot glue over foam to avoid radar from vibrations even more.

000053198586_%23_3_%23_Slavixs.jpg

000053198583_%23_3_%23_Slavixs.jpg

000053198577_%23_3_%23_Slavixs.jpg

000053198592_%23_3_%23_Slavixs.jpg

Now bumper fitted like original with no problems.
After everything was assembled together and connected as expected, was done correct coding for everything.
After all it is working nice, was need to play with datasets and for now best dataset is from Passat B8, for others was some false alarms that somebody is in blind zone whilst there was nobody. Now its like already 3 months driving with this retrofit, no problems at all.

This post will be about Heated steering wheel retrofit from Leon 4.
At first bought the wheel from Leon 4 and then to find airbag it taken some time.
Control module under steering wheel (slip ring) was ordered from aliexpress, also new 16 pin connector.
Repined connectors as I didn't wanted any adapters to use.

First setup with aliexpress module was working for about like one month, then it stopped to heat steering wheel. And no alarms or messages, just not turning on heating for the wheel.

Started to looking for original vag module but no luck, and new one is a bit expensive. So decided to order module from tiguan (same as kodiaq). And yep, it is slightly different "shape", electrically it fits and car can do communication well , but fitment itself is different, so I got to order tiguan stalks (was very cheap).
Then also stalk mounts is a bit different so was need to cut something "here and there" to fit for one winter, as it was cold but wanted heating for the steering wheel to work. Now in the summer I hunting right module to fit back right stalks, just did not like that I know that there is something cutted and so on under the wteering wheel trims.

Here is some pictures from process again:

Today had succesfully retrofitted 5Q1 steereing column electronics module from Golf 8
As I mentioned before at the end I had 5Q0 module from Škoda, but there was problem with stalks and so on, and I wanted original stalks back and also had 5Q1 steering module leaning around which was bought by mistake.

I got 5Q1 module from Golf 8 - 5Q1 953 549 F, with heated steering wheel option.
I repined it using Golf 8 diagrams as I got it from Golf 8, and You never know. Also as I had Skoda Kodiaq 5Q0 module installed before, I will not write from which pin to which I pinned wires as wiring already was not like from factory...

Repined connector now looking like this:
Pin 1 - Red/blue(Positive from fuse box for heated steering wheel)
Pin 4 - Brown (GND)
Pin 5 - Violet (LIN from BCM - T73C/54) [This I was missing, as did not have this wire at all]
Pin 6 - Red/White (Positive from fuse box)
Pin 8 - Brown (GND for heated steering wheel)
Pin 9 - Yellow (SIG- from AirBag module)
Pin 10 - RED (SIG+ from AirBag module)
Pin 11 - Black/white (SIG from engine control unit)
Pin 12 - Violet/Blue (LIN from Gateway)

blue/violet wire (this one was going from J587 - Selector lever to old 5Q0 steering control module) this need to wire to BCM T73c/24.

Leftover Can High, Can Low just take out or isolate
And from beginning I did not have black/green, black and violet/red (this I was needed), so not sure to which diagrams to relay on.

Coding is done trough Adaptations in 09 module under "SMLS" adaptations.
Also in Adaptations > Lenkstockschalter > Verbauort Lenkstockschalter, change from CAN to LIN

And finally it works.

Also as I struggled to get steering module connection with BCM, because I did not have LIN wire from BCM to Steering control module, I updated BCM software to SW 312, 5Q0937084DH, also dataset was updated for this version. Seems that Adatpations left untouched, and was not needed to do them.
At the end found out that I do not have this wire, I bringed new LIN wire from BCM - T73C/54 to Steering module Pin 5.

About memory mirror for driver door... I tested that if You take memory motor from passenger door (left hand driving car) and put it on drivers door - it not working correctly and there is no way to change pin out to get it work correct..
But I taked motor from right hand driving car (UK car) passenger memory mirror motor and put it in my car and it works as it should! So now I got memory mirrors with memory seats, and all works great!
As we know, Leon 5F have memory mirror motors only in passengers door - for reverse dip function.

can you explain a little bit more with Details what you changed and coded for Memory Mirrors?

I'll be so bold as to say that if we assume a left-hand drive vehicle and we install the memory motor from the passenger side into the driver's side and connect it like the passenger side, it is logical and correct that it goes wrong. Because it is exactly mirrored compared to the passenger side. Now there are 2 options.

The first and quickest and safest is to take the mirror motor from a right-hand drive vehicle, which is correctly wired internally, or my theory is to connect the passenger side motor of a left-hand drive vehicle in a mirrored manner as far as the position of the potentiometers is concerned.

The coding is STG 42 byte 04, bit 01 if memory seats are installed, otherwise bit 02&03 normally. However, 4 cables have to be tightened. Because of course these are missing in the driver's door for the potentiometers.

So make your own additional 4-pin connector like the original one on the passenger side.

Or you can do something really crazy like I am doing at the moment, but more on that when the time comes 😉

then you can also install additional dimming exterior mirror glasses 😉

Cairus are correct. Wiring also You can buy in scrapyard together with motor like I done it and then it is plug and play!

I think, if You don't have memory seats in car - there is no sense of memory mirrors. Only thing is mirror dip at reverse gear, but this also works only on passenger side any way!

Sure?

I think that the company or the software will find a solution for this ;)
I coded both mirrors as memory and to do reverse dip, but works only one... Done this only for testing purposes.

For me, this mirror dip is useless, I don't use it and disabled it in 5F immediately after got this car! :)

presumably the EEPROM has to be read manually, and the area for the mirror lowering has to be rewritten in the same way as on the passenger side 😉

I love this function
