Skipping wipers

Hi everyone
I've got mu cupra leon for about 1.5 months now.
The last few days it's raining.
My windscreen is clean, the wiper blades are clean and i dont have any coating on.
When it rains after a few passes the wipers star to hop.
If I use the washer fluid while raining the hopping stops and starts again when the rain water washes it away.
If its not raining and i use the washer fluid the wipers work fine.
Any idea what causes thay before I spend money on bew blades?
Thanks in advance

Is this only for your windshield?
I had this for long time with rear wiper.
The 4th replacement blade fixed it finally, for almost 2 years now.

Maybe this is blades lottery for you as well?

@AntonisGr2025 - you’ve said the screen is clean; does it just have the appearance of being clean or have you used anything specific to clean it other than just washing it? Airborne contaminants can bond to glass and those contaminants can affect the smooth operation of the wiper blades. After washing the screen, I’d use a fine grade clay bar and plenty of an appropriate lubricant such as a quick detailer to remove any contaminants. There are lots of videos on YouTube showing how to use a clay bar and lubricant to remove airborne contaminants from car bodywork and glass.

After decontaminating, I’d wash the screen and then give it - and the wiper blades - a really good clean with a dedicated car glass cleaner - I’m currently using Autobrite Direct Crystal Superior Glass Cleaner which I find very good; https://autobritedirect.co.uk/produ...&_sid=b301c0263&_ss=r#shopify-product-reviews

If after thoroughly decontaminating and cleaning your screen and wiper blades your existing wiper blades still fail to sweep smoothly, then you might need to invest in a new set of wiper blades which IMHO is a small price to pay for smooth operating blades. A couple of brands of wiper blades to consider that often get positive mentions on various car forums are Bosch Aerotwin and Valeo Silencio.
