Single or Double mass?

Hey, i have read and read the forum about double and single mass flywheels and clutch kits and have just got confused!

i am getting a hybrid turbo from CR turbo on my PD130 FR ibiza, and need a few questions answering before i purchase the uprated clutch!

1 - do i need to change the flywheel? car has done 85k with no slip at present with a stg 1 rempap pd 160 intake and few other bits.
2 - single or double mass flywheel? (want the car as a daily driver but dont mind a little bit of extra noise as long as it is not excessive - tractor)
3 - sachs or helix?
4 - where is the best place to get it all? (AMD have been prob the most reasonable so far)

Another lil question, about the intercooler!
Seat sport with forge kitting kit (if they make one) or just splash out an extra £150 getting the forge one?

sorry to be a pain, these topics have been talked about before but its baffled me to be honest!

Cheers

I think you're asking a question of personal preference here. Some may say SMF and helix where as I would go DMF and organic SACHS. The SMF/helix is more of a belt and braces approach. A DMF and organic clutch should be enough for what you want as there are plenty of Hybrids out there with that set up. The DMF/organic clutch approach is more OE too (if you want that kind of thing).

If it were me I would replace the DMF due to the mileage.

And AMD are a well respected bunch on here too.

this is my topic of interest too , but been sidelined for now ,

i utubed this for a gauge on noise difference , and whether its because its on vidio they seem megga loud

would like to see one in the flesh really

the upside of smf is it only needs to be done once , if cluch went again no replacing fw

dmf would/should be replaced with the cluch

I've recently had the Jabbasport stage 2 hybrid conversion done and went single mass.
I can honestly say that after an initial period where I had to get used to the difference from OE DMF, I am completely happy with what I have had done, there is no worry either regarding future slip issues as the single mass can certainly cope with a higher torque level.
Jabbasport are another of the well respected pro's and I would certainly consider perhaps giving them or one of the other teams a call to discuss your situation.:)

as for the intercooler, (AN AREA OF INTEREST FOR ME TOO)
i would go seat sport, cheaper and bigger and easier to fit from what i understand.

Hey, cheers for the replies
i have jus ordered some forge pipe work for the seat sport intercooler (@£220) which is pretty steep but had to be done. the only major problem is there is a 3 to 4 wk waiting for the parts and i was hoping to have the car ready by then! oh well!

As for the clutch i am going to give jabba a bell now see what they recommend, alot of people have warned me off the SMFW however all my mates with petrol engine ibizas and other cars have told me to got single!

I suppose a question i have to ask myself is... do i want to make my car less "easy driving" or not?

does the sinlge mass make the car quicker in anyway - mayb by spinning faster and increasing the bhp to the wheels or whatever?

cheers again

Rod

p.s. - just tallied up all the money i have spent on the my car - it owes me almost £10k nd i have only had it 6 months paying just over £5500 for it :(

You will then have the same setup as me and its really good :)
A little more noisey like you said if your sat in traffic, i got in the habit of keeping my clutch depressed but it started to hurt my foot and isnt good for the clutch release bearing so stopped doing that now and just put up with the noise.

wicked mate - i am not sure whether to wack some pd160 injestors in aswell before the remap!

wat u think about it?

as with the noise, jus try nt to get stuck in traffic or at lights, then u should have no trouble! i should have the car completed by the middle of november if u want me to meet u to show u the noise before u purchase one!

PD130/150/160 injectors are all the same. If you want to flow more fuel you will need to fit some race 783 nozzles to your stock injector bodies.

Well if you want some dodgy ones that don`t work properly you can go to JBS like a member on this site did then get the usual JBS "not our problem mate but thanks for the money, bye" attitude. The nozzles are made by Bosio and there are several Bosio dealers around europe but unless you intend fitting something bigger then a 17/56 turbo i wouldn`t bother to be honest. Race 783 nozzles are good for 280 bhp so no point fitting them to a small turbo.

Rebuild is slowly getting there. The company that i got to strip rebuild my gearbox made a screw up which wasted three weeks but hopefully have engine/gearbox fitted and maybe running by end of the week.

Wow, did you manage to figure out a control system for the turbo yet? and a system to prevent you from sucking up other cars, children, dogs and generally anything else that gets in front of you? ;)
