Damoegan - What's its like to drive for you. I have a pair of gauges in the same place and find it rather hard to see when turning right to the point of it being dangerous. Plan to move my when I can order a new A pillar from seat. :(

Guffers & RpR - No offence but that looks like a half done job. Now, if the vent still works the fair play, but just don't look right in my opinion.

I plan to fit 2-3 gauges in my air vents but I plan to block them up, get some ply/mdf/carbon/black matt plastic (not decided yet, lol) and do it that way.

The Prosport gauges do look the nuts. I currently got those Auto Gauges and I'm not keen on them at all. Boost gauge is starting to rattle. :(. Don't know If the gauge is faulty or if I need to get that anti vibration t pipe, but I'm gonna get new gauges anyway. lol

Vent works just fine, can't turn it obviously as the innards are all removed, but airflow is perfectly ok still!
I'd prefer to have trimmed them down a bit, to sort off put them further back into the dash, but doubt i could get a nice smooth finish on the plastic. All blocked off solutions I've seen look wrong and cheap :/ Guess a 60mm gauge would fit a lot better in such a setup?

Edit: I'd prefer a a-pillar install like Damo's, but wont pass MOT here in Denmark with anything even remotely in the field of view....

Tom, I find it fine to drive. Yea, it sticks out a little but it dont bother me at all..

As for the vibration on your gauge, yes you need a anti vibration t pipe..

Here's mine, same as Damoegans Nomad pod - it houses autogauge boost and oil pressure gauges :

I found glowshift guages (7 colour black) to be a perfect match for my dials. Had mine imported from USA so bear in mind import costs when buying.

Prosport, Autometer & Glowshift all have their gauges made the same place in Taiwan, the Prosport ones sold here in Denmark are basicly Glowshift's with a chrome bezel.

im going to be getting some gauges, one boost psi gauge but which other is most useful?oil pressure, oil temperature, volt, water temperature. i'm thinking oil pressure

im going for the same set up as damoegan (not to be a copy cat but i was going to do it before a saw yours :p) with two gauges with red backlights to match the dials and nomad pod. iv seen these gauges http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PROSPORT-RED-...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item588815d631 and http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PROSPORT-RED-...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item588815d4cd any good and how easy are they to fit?

For any turbo engine the most important gauge to have is EGT especially if its tuned or if you are going to tune it.

I usually fit: Boost, EGT, Oil Pressure, Oil Temp gauges on any turbo vehicle I plan on tuning. If I decide to tune my FR TDI Ill see about getting either digital readout gauges or split dual purpose gauges..... not sure where I would fit them though yet but Id probably make a nice subtle mounting system myself. Im not a fan of the air vent mount because you loose the vents and I think it looks a little odd and Ive had A-Pillar pods before and the really are dangerous as they block too much lime of sight when pulling out of junctions.

For general driving I think oil temp is the first one to have, you can use it to know when you can really give it some. Boost gauge isn't really needed I think (despite having one), same with voltage, they are only needed if something is wrong with the car. Where as oil temp and EGT are more important IMO

i'v agreed a price with someone on here to buy there new pillar pods and gauges. the boost gauge is 0-2 bar. i have a cupra tdi which has been remapped to 205bhp and 300lb/ft torque will the boost gauge read enough or will i need one that reads more?

Ahh well in that case, fair play. :)

I have bought some new gauges but cant fit them due to having problems buying a new black a pillar. Been to a Seat dealer and they still cant order one in. Grr

As for the T-pipe, thought so. lol. Thanks for confirming. :)
