Hey folks,

As per title - can you assist me in making a decision, and show me photos of your boost gauge installs?

I believe only options are:

1) A pillar
2) In a vent
3) In centre console under stereo (in pocket location

I want the most discrete location, to look OEM.

I'm undecided on where to install one - I ONLY WANT 1 GAUGE, so nomad pillar is probably a no-no due to only coming with 2 mounts.

I had a good idea for the LiquidGauge mount location, but I just can't justify spending £200odd on it now - I'll probably opt for an Autometer Phantom or similar. Unless of course, there is a boost-gauge that reads from the diagnostics socket like the Liquidgauge, but of course, a lot cheaper! (don't need the other functions)

Cheers folks

I also assume, unless someone can proove otherwise, that the Autometer Phantom gauge is the closest to OEM in styling and backlight? I am willing to pay more if there is something with a decent red backlight to match the rest of the dash.

Thanks

That's quite a good job there - :) Well done.
Maybe a vent is a good idea.. how hard was it to install them in there?

EDIT: And are they 60mm gauges, or 52mm?

Cheers Damo - what gauge is that?

I think I'm going to go with a vent install now I've seen nikstars above - I'll only use the right hand one from the centre of the dash - just need to find out how easy it is to mount it.

The Phantom one I had before in my Leon was a good match, but backlighting wasn't fantastic - but I don't see many others as OEM looking:

Cheers Damo - have looked them up, but think I've found a cheaper alternative, being a 7-colour gauge that I'll just use the 1 colour on, and a lot cheaper. Might get one, and if it's no good, flog it and get a different one at a later stage.

What size gauge fits best in the vent? Is it a 52mm, or the bigger one?
I would measure up myself, but I'm packing to go on holiday tomorrow :)
Thx

Here are some pics of when i had mine in bits,

I basically pulled the vents to bits, cut a ring out of mdf to fit into the vent and put gauge in. You get the idea when you start to pull the vent to bits. Hope that helps a bit anyway! :)
