I have a red LCR and im looking into lowering it. I had budget coilovers in my previous car (the ibiza below) only this time i would like to get the cupra lowered but cant b bothered with the rough ride anymore. So iv been lookin at either h&r lowing springs. i would also consider budget coilovers again as i would only be lowering it 40mm ish all round. What do yous think would be the better option? safer just sticking with springs or had a rougher ride but have the car a wee bit lower to improve the look.?

Here's mine on ap coilovers. Goin to go slightly lower on the rear tho yet

if your sticking with standard shocks it may be worth checkign that 50mm aint too much on them, got a feeling it will knacker them very quickly.

The 50 mm refers to a cupra and not a cupra r, its more like 25mm or so on a cupra r. If you look at the 50/40 mm springs and then the hr 20-25mm springs they are the same drop!

Honestly don't be put off of coilovers with the leon, i had joms on my cupra and was expecting a harsh ride but there wasn't much difference to stock. The amount of money you will be spending on spring AND shocks you might as well get coilovers imo :confused:

What does it ride like on the ap's dude?

It's corners like its on rails! The ride quality is firmer over standard but still fine on a day to day bases. Mines fully polybushed as well which does firm it up more , don't get me wrong I was unsure about coilovers at first but I'm glad I got them in the end, was a good purchase .

Cheers for that, I'm no stranger to coilovers but only ever had them on my old school vw's just looking for some reassurance.

Only problem now is getting on and off the driveway..... Not sure I can be arsed with bits of 2x4 every day. :lol:

I think what Everest lowing route you do down u may have issues with bumps and drives, iv got around 10 solos speed bumps to go over everytime I come or leave home it catches 1 or two but depends how you take them! I'm glad I went with them plus if you go too low just wind them back up to suit !

i am planning on going for the ap coilovers as i have read quite alot of good feedback on them

is anyone running powerflex top mounts just wondered if they are worth getting or stick with oe?

Mines on KW V1's, ride quality is good and the handling is excellent.

I'd go for coilovers to be honest, the give you the adjustability to get it sitting just right, but with springs if the front is lower than the rear or vice-versa then you're stuck with it.

Also, I find it easier to get over things, and in and out of my driveway since lowering it, because now it sits level, whereas before it sat nose down slightly and the splitter just dug into everything!
