So basically the bolts going through the adaptors are too long and hit the hub, do i simply bolts the adaptors onto the free standing wheels and then mark the point on the bolts where it comes out the other side of the hub then hacksaw them off?

Please help havent been able to drive my car for ages and cant till its sorted!

Thats exactly what I did....make sure you use all the threads in the hub and clamp them up and hacksaw the excess off...I've driven around for two years on mine like that now, no problems.

Cheers bro!

The bit in bold am i right that your saying to make sure i fully torque up the bolts in the adaptor? so that when i put it back on it will be flush against the hub?

Cheers again!

Just to clarify, I have 10mm spacers (hubcentric, bolt-thru type), I bought longer bolts, that were too long and poked out hte back of the hub and would have hit...I marked where they needed to be shortened to, so that the all the threads in the hub were used and no excess length poked out when tightened in the wheels.
Basically you want to use all the threads available for the best connection and safety.

Hi there.

I had the same problem before and decided to cut my bolts but they totally ruined the aluminium spacers I was using.....so keep this in mind.

You could purchase shorter bolts (this is what I did). I'm sure I have a few going spare at home. How many do you need? Cover postage and you can have them :)

Or I can send you info about the company I purchased them from, but I'll need to find the invoice first which may take a few minutes.

Hi mate, i need a full set im pretty sure, thing is i know the rear adaptors and bolts are ruined but the fronts never got checked so i just bought 2 pairs of new adaptors and a full set of new bolts, now youve said that im not sure weather i want to try to hacksaw them lol cost me a pretty penny, surely if i file off the ends it should be fine? or put a nut on the bolts so it threads itself when i take it off?

But if you could find out where you got the shorter bolts from that would be sweet, bare in mind i have 15mm adaptors :)

I have looked everywhere on the net and nowhere sells shortened bolts by the looks of it

I did rush cutting the bolts but when I ruined a £100 set of spacers,I nearly cried :( haha. I imagine if you are super duper careful then you should be okay but there will certainly be an element of risk involved.

15MM no problem buddy. It's what I was using at the time :).

Yeh it took hours of internet searching to find the required bolts so I totally understand the horror you are going through.

Right okay I have the invoice........

The company which I ordered from were called toshe trading and they have the following website (www.performancealloys.com). You can find the bolts you need on their website under the 'wheel nuts & bolts' section. However, whilst looking at the invoice, it turns out they were acting as a third party and originally ordered from Bimecc. You might be better off contacting Bimecc (TEL: 01923 855234 or E-mail: [email protected]) as it could be cheaper for you. Delivery also took 3-4 days.

Hope this helps :)

I had this problem on Friday when I got my new wheels put on. The bolts from adapter to hub were too long and made quite a loud bang and then rubbing inside the drum brakes when I moved the car. Took it to my mechanics who took the drum brakes apart, checked the damage, and cut the bolts. Not a nice experience lol.

Same principle, my spacers dont line up with the holes behind, As adapters (which space as well) would, the bolts are still the right size though. spacers are the bolt on/bolt into type.

Iv fitted some bolt on/bolt into adapters before and they came with the right bolts as well. Guess it depends on the manufacturer. An hacksaw and 10mins of your time would sort the bolts out though, seems mental to have the car off the road for days over some slightly to long bolts and the sake of some simple measure/cutting.

So they came with the bolts that go from adaptors to the hub AND bolts that go from your wheels into adaptors? Its the original bolts were talking about that are too long, VAG bolts are 28mm (i think) which is too long for 15mm adaptors

They gave me a number of Ross at 01935 829671, spoke to him and they do bolts that are 18mm and he is sending me one in the post to check what the fitment is like :)

Standard seat bolts are m14 x1.50 with 60 degree taper (ignore thread length for now). I know you have 15mm adapters and require the thread of the bolt to be shorter, but I was wondering if a different kind of bolt is required to secure these wheels to the adapter?

What wheels are they buddy?

Also, the thread lengths I've used for my 15mm in the past has been 21mm and 20mm. 18mm will fit fine but a bit worried if you will get enough turns to secure them in the spacer.

I have spare (a bit tatty) M14X 1.5 21MM Thread at home which I'm happy to post for you to try as a fitment trial if you cover p&p.....no charge for bolts :).

Infact now i think about it yeah they are tapered, good job i didnt use the ebay jobbies i bought if you look on the link it says:

Why 'Radius' Seats?

Don't fit the wrong bolts to your car! The bolts & locks in this set all have the proper 'Radius' seats (sometimes called 'Ball' seats) that are used on OE Audi, Seat, Skoda, & Volkswagen alloy wheels.

Don't fit 'Taper' seat bolts unless you have after-market wheels that specifically need them!

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/20-x-ALLO...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item4ab53e0a9a

The wheels I've got are genuine BBS CH wheels, so im guessing they will use the same as normal vag wheel bolts

I'l wait for these to turn up and have a look what they look like bolted up, then I could be in touch mate so I can cover postage :)
