Think I may have just messed things up a little rushing to get my newly acquired shortshifter fitted.

I'm not quite sure what has happened but reverse now seems to selet a forwar gear and I can't get it off the drive to test the others. I've still got the original one on there at the moment but think i did things in the reong order and disconnected the black spring loaded clips while the car was still in gear.

Can anyone offer this numpty some advice in how to get things straight again please?

Edit - Second gear won't select so I assume that might be where reverse has gone as all the others select forward gears... :(

I don't know if there is a straight forward procedure anyone can point me in the direction of to realign the gearstick and gearbox?

hmmmm, it seems to me that simply reversing your process should do the trick. i.e. put the car back into whatever gear it was in when you put the shortshifter on, remove the shortshifter, put the old one back on and take the car out of gear.

I didn't actually get round to changing the linkage itself - the original is still on there. I disconnected the linkage from the gear change (both forward/backwards and throw) and have somehow got the stick out of sync with the transmission i think. I seem to be able to selcect 6 gears - including reverse but they are all forward drive?
