My car was fully serviced today at SEAT, but there are a few things that the dealers pointed out that need doing (Which I tought would be done through the service but wasn't)

Brake fluid= £59
AC requires service= £59
Coolant change due= £59

Does anyone know if I could do any of those myself, or get them done any cheaper?

Not sure why you couldn't do the first and last yourself...but not sure how to drain the old stuff.

When my wife had her Peugeot 206 A/c re-charged it was £75. Have seen other non-dealer garages offering for around £60, so it seems an ok price.

Brake fluid changes can be a right pain, it doesn't take much to be left with air in the lines and no resistance in the pedal. And some SEAT's use the brake fluid reservoir for the clutch, which makes it even harder. But it can be done for cheaper than that. I had a brake fluid change done on my old Astra, it cost me £25 on top of the rear cylinder replacement I had gone in for.

A coolant change is definitely DIY, you could get the proper coolant for half that price.

your post is a contradiction , you say your car was fully serviced? coolant change is a standard service requirement , the brake fluid change is every 2 years so either you havent got full service history or you didnt have the correct service done , what milage or age servie did you have done?
the aircon service only needs doing if you notice it needs doing , its not a full requirement , to keep your air conditioning in tip top shape try and use it more often and all year round , doesnt have to be on cold ;)

Coolant change isnt required as the coolant should last the life of the vehicle unless its contaminated or a leak causes it to empty the system, it is also a supplementry item not included in the seat service items.

Brake fluid is also a supplementry item not included as part of the service.

It is advised that the A/C should be serviced every 2 years because like all moving components i.e the compressor it has oil running through it, you change the oil in your engine so why not your a/c compressor (which does 5-10 times more revolutions per minute than the engine itself)?

Also the main purpose of a/c is to cool the air by removing the warm hydrogenated water molecules from air - which creates the icey cold effect, so using it on warm or hot will just blow "dry" hot air at you.

No, coolant change isn't standard service requirement, I had a major service carried out and SEAT told me that coolant change isn't part of any service ever

sorry mate have to dissagree , the air conditioning system is hempatically sealed and only needs to be serviced if it has a leak , only way to remove oil is to vac the system down , you cant just do an oil change ! , its not like an engine that moves oil all the time and requires it , if the air con is not used the compressor doesnt run simples

the purpose of air conditioning on a car is actually a hvac system not only designed to cool the air but also to heat it , obviously you wouldnt be doing that in summer but during winter , it removes water from the air whether its hot or cold but has to be above 3 degrees iirc for te system to operate.

but the question i do have is if the coolant is not changed what the fcuk does the price of servicing include? just an oil change?

just read my service book , brake fluid is covered under the additional service work depending on the condition of the vehicle , thats why i asked the op his age and type of service , intrestingly there is no mention about A/C servicing at all !

An automotive air conditioning system isnt sealed fully. In fact they say 60g (for a single evap system) a year iirc is acceptable due to leakage through seals and rubber hoses (all part of the Kyoto protocol/agreement).

Our modern systems fair better than others are they are always on due to not running a magnetic clutch.

i was refering more to the compressor otherwise it would be a fridge system with a pinch tube :p
