Selecting first gear very stiff

First of all, merry christmas to everyone.

Secondly... was my own stupid fault on this one....

Was doing a hard launch, crunched the gears pulling down from first into second... carried on through the gears.

When I came to select first again it was almost impossible, its now unbelievably stiff and a lot of pressure is needed to select first... 1st gear is still there, its just nigh on impossible to use without a lot of force, second is a little stiff aswell... all the other gears are fine.

Im guessing its probably the gear selector bars/mechanism is bent/ broken.. but im hoping its going to be a diy fix (as always)..

Has anyone else had this?

Many thanks.

have you checked there is nothing obstructing the selector on the gearbox? I had tight gears then found my sai filter had fallen off and was being jammed/crushed in the mechanics of it

The problem with it being stiff selecting first sounds alot like how my gearbox was. It crunched into second and was very difficult to get back into first after but if you were gentle into second or missed it out when going up the box it would go in and out of first as normal. Had my gearbox reconditioned and found my syncro ring for second was in two pieces! Needless to say it wasn't a cheap or easy fix. I may be able to sort you a diagram out if you give me your email address I'll see what i can do!

Iv got no crunching going on, its just really stiff to get into first, hoping its got something to do with the mechanism on top of the gearbox, dont suppose anyone has any pics of the mechanism so I can compare with mine?

Sounds to me like you've trashed the pressure plate on the clutch. Hard launches can do this! my Evo 6 used to chew them up and exactly the same thing symptons appeared.

Thats interesting, as its just had a new clutch. Wouldnt it do it for every gear though? Its going into the Garage on tuesday, dont know what to expect to be honest.

Had to drive into work this morning, had too much stuff to take in to get the train.

I was about halfway there (5 miles) when all of a sudden, first and second seemed to free off abit.

They are still a little stiff, but they are much better, can select first and second without feeling that somthing is about to break.

Very strange, its going into the garage tomorrow anyway but just thought it was abit weird.
