Does anyone know of a dealer that will fit this upgrade in the UK?

Being an official upgrade from Seat, is there any reason why Seat UK will not honour the worldwide warranty on the first year?

I would rather fit an official upgrade than a remap.

Thanks

Near Reevo :)
Nope, you will not be able to obtain it in the UK, and certainly it wont recieve a warranty in the UK.

No idea why TBH ... pretty poor if you ask me, but its been like that ever since they introduced the upgrade years ago now.

It has been mentioned to me, that it may well become a UK option. However what folks fail to take on board, is that UK law makes it very difficult for things to get type approval in the UK.

SEAT UK must test and have certified that all modifications they put on their cars, that includes spare parts, meet the british safety standards.

Hence why not all SEAT Accessories are available, its an expensive business getting all these bits type approval tested.

Mark, sorry but thats crap! The German testing is a lot harder to pass than the UK laws.

The reason that I would rather have this than a Revo remap, as the insurance companies favour these over a 3rd party product.

Im sorry but with all due respect, what is crap is your understanding of what SEAT UK are required to approve as a major vehicle manufacturer/importer. And what they are responsible for, this isn't about German TUV its about what SEAT UK are required to do to have parts/upgrades approved for the UK market. Myself m0rk and Saul were all invited to SEAT UK a year or so back, and discussed this very subject with the senior manager in charge. I also discussed it further with him, at Silverstone last year, and he updated me on the fact they were hoping to offer it sometime during 2007 if everything went well.

To approve something for the UK market they are required to get approval for it, to sell it as a genuine approved part. REVO and other tuners are not required to do so, as its a 3rd party addition, that is chosen to be fitted by the owner of the car, its not something SEAT warrent, approve or fit.

The performance pack would be something they would fully approve. The only thing mentioned to me is that a performance pack customer would be required to sign a disclaimer on the understanding that it is their responsibility to inform their own insurance about the performance upgrade.

Its mainly due to the Ambulance chaser culture we now live under, that SEAT UK are required to cover all the bases.

2007 eh... Sounds good. Other then warranty and being approved by Seat, is there really any difference between it being done by Seat or Revo? Is it technically the same?

So why are they selling other modifications like suspension, wheels and brake upgrades?

All these require the insurance company to be notified!
