This insurance scheme is proving very popular which is great but I often get asked to do quotes myself.

Regarding this, could I ask you to either use the email quote facility found on this forum or ring the office please on 0800 917 2274 or 01424 200477 if calling from a mobile – Mon-Fri 9am till 5pm, Sat 9am till noon.
It’s just that I don’t actually do the quotes, as I spend a lot of my time travelling the country on business and work from home also.
We have a specialist team who should be able to help you based on the details you’ve stated.

Also, please don't forget the car breakdown cover at £54.50 for full UK cover – please see http://www.ckinsurance.co.uk/docs/ChrisKnottBreakdown.pdf, online travel insurance (instant quotes) - http://www.ckinsurance.co.uk/travel and home insurance.

Thanks.

If your car insurance renewal (or home, travel, car breadown for that matter!) is due in August, please feel free to ring for a quote on our scheme. In the next few weeks, we will have the September rates installed on our computers so we can quote for that month when that happens.

Our numbers are 0800 917 2274 or 01424 200477 and please don't forget to quote the club reference number found in my signature.

Are the insurance rates good to go so I can get a quote for an insurance policy commencing on 1 September 2010? I know your offices are closed on a Sunday, so if the rates are available, I can happily give your office a call during the week.

Breakdown Cover

Hi
Thank you so much for providing us with this information.

Just a note to say it doesn't look like they'll quote you if you've owned your car for less than a year and are under 25. I'm 22 and phoned for a quote on my 1.8 SE which I bought Nov 09 and they couldn't do it.

I just thought I’d try and explain a little more about the insurer’s decision to amend the criteria for our insurance scheme. Please believe me when I say that we would love to insure everybody and I’ve enjoyed reading people’s feedback when they talk of our prices, customer service, claims handling, etc. However, the insurers have been hit hard this year and when trying to find out why, they have discovered that, in general, there are certain elements which are causing the problems. Hence the reason to only accept modifications with cosmetic changes and modded bhp increases of no more than 20bhp.

Also people must have at least 1 year's NCB – no introductory discounts are allowed, no more than 1 SP/PC/PL conviction offence per driver and minimum premiums are £250 for Comprehensive & £200 for TPFT cover.

It seems that people outside of this criteria are losing money big-time for the insurers though of course this is a generalisation as they understand not everyone claims in these ‘areas’. It’s just that once bitten, twice shy.

It only affects new customers btw.

May I reiterate that it’s not us who have made this decision but the insurers. Let me point you to this article which tends to sum up the market at the moment - http://news.sky.com/skynews/Home/Bu..._Months,_Consumer_Intelligence_Research_Finds

Hi Tim

Things seem to be getting really tight at the minute with insurance quotes and folk with remaps look to be hit hard.
I dont have a remap on my 105bhp TDI but im looking in to it, im 27 with 5 years NCB and whilst trying to get a quote for if I did get a remap, I have been quoted in excess of £1200.

My current insurer is happy to insure me for a remap for an additional £55 on my current premium(4 months remaining), and when working out online how it will affect next years premium it look to be around £120 extra for the remap, this all looks good to me.

however the remap with this insurer, and many others is capped to 25% power increase maximum, which will be no good considering my PD105 engine will be remapped to closer to 140bhp (33% increase) after the remap.

Unfortunately, I can only see an increase in undeclared mods at the moment (not myself of course) :(

I dread to think how the guys with seriously modded cars are going to get on in the near future

Hi

If your car insurance renewal is due in September, please feel free to ring us for a quote on our scheme!

The parameters have changed in that the scheme insurers don't accept bhp increase mods by more than 20bhp or people with more than one conviction or who have had a fault claim in the last 12 months.

We have October rates in our system now so if your car insurance renewal is due, please feel free to ring us for a quote.

0800 917 2274 or 01424 200477 and please state the forum name and/or reference number found in my signature.

By the way, if you have home insurance, here is a post from a forum written yesterday - 'Our home insurance is up for renewal, so I decided to get a quote from the club scheme to see if there as good for home as they are for car insurance. My renewal from (.........) was £413 a year. Chris knott a bargain £318 a year.'

So try us on your home insurance as well!

I've just rang for a quote and couldn't use this scheme has the woman said i've already received discount because i'm a returning customer??? and couldn't add my sister on the policy cause she hadn't owned any performance cars (she's 33 with full no calims bonus) and my car is only a Leon cupra TDI, i wouldnt class that has a performance car!! I do think its misleading cause when you call there are all these obsticles an exclusions lol

On plus side only charge £12.50 admin fee where adrian flux was £25-30 and they were £10 cheaper than flux.
