Seat Leon Cupra 54 plate

Does anyone else have a problem with car pulling to the nearside (left), when driving. I am having to hold the steering wheel slightly to the right, when attempting to drive in a straight line- if I let go of the wheel, it pulls to the left.

I'm driving on the factory fitted 17" alloys with a fresh set of tyres, as I was told it could be the tyres- it's not.

HELP:(

very common problem on the cupra. mine does this too. i switched to 18's and it got far worse. i'm now back to 17's.

i've had tracking done, wheels balanced three times and laser alignment and nothing helps. don't know anyone who has solved this.

sorry

Seems to be a SEAT think in general! All 3 Ibiza'a I've had does it! Someone said they recon it was a safety feature to make you car go to the nearside if you fell asleep - load of b0llocks methinks!

I've had my current car at a few alignment places and they all say the same - tracking is spot on, it might just be the way SEAT engineer the car to be a bit more gentle on tyres!

Thanks for the suggestions. Have your Seats done this from new???? As I have had the car from brand new (2004) however it has only been pulling for about the past 9 - 12 months.

I have had it looked at by 2 separate Seat dealerships & they don't have any clue.

Yeah, mines a 54 and it has done this from new. i took it back a few times and was told, road camber, if you fall asleep, etc, etc. the tracking was changed to be on the limit to track slightly to the off side, which helped and didn't scrub the tyres.

Also, it's not ideal and the wrong way to go about things but try putting an additional psi in your near side tyres.

The thing i put it down to is wide tyres and lowered/stiffer suspension. This amplifies the issues as i have found out in the past.

Similar on my 54 plate Cupra though only to a mild degree. Alignment has been checked and ok'd at Micheldever Tyres.

I suspect it is a"built in" trait as I used to get similar with my A3.

Truth is it's only a real problem if you drive without your hands on the wheel (clever **** ;)) and roads are so rough these days that relaxed one hand driving is no longer a safe option.

Not sure different tyre pressures is safe or going to help wear rates??

Hello hello after all this time i have finally managed to sort out the problem I had taken the car to APS up in Brackley and they had pointed out that my track control arms & o/s tie rod end were knackered. I had these replaced and they then done a proper 4wheel alignment VAG style without the massive bill. I can now drive in a straight with having the car shotting off into the nearest piece of kerb
