300bhp is easily achievable on a 1.9 PD engine, but it will cost you!

You'll need a GTB2260 or hybrid of a GTB2056, uprated injectors, Ported and flowed head, higher lift/longer duration cam, nice sized fmic, and from memory the rods in the PD105's are different to the PD130's so they will need changing for a set of forged ones. Oh, full exhaust too. That's a fair few grand in parts alone, and not even thought about supporting chassis mods.

Transmission wise, the only thing that needs uprating is the clutch. Gearboxes should be pretty solid. Engine mounts will need doing though.

I'm gonna say go for it! Where else do you get a car that goes that quick and will still return up to and occasionally over 60mpg!
And before anyone says that's nonsense, I own one of the most worked TDI's in the UK! Its a lot of money to spend, but you only live once, so crack on and get it done.

Speak to the guys at Darkside Developments (darksidedevelopments.co.uk). They will be able to spec an engine build for you, and supply you with all the parts you'll require.

In current form its done around 7k miles, and only hiccup has been a split boost pipe. With the pressures and temperatures its running, there should be no issues whatsoever. This is the problem with big forums like this! People with no knowledge on the subject whatsoever go around preaching crap to people, telling them it can't be done reliably ect...

Another thing to mention is insurance. I noticed someone say about how it would cost so much more to insure the TDI with all mods declared. That's nonsense. Mine is all mods declared, like for like, and costs 400 less than the cheapest quote I got for a STANDARD cupra.

As I've said, 300bhp is an easily but expensively achievable output, and as long as its mapped by a good tuner who knows the crack, it will be reliable.

In that case you want the injectors and turbo from the ARL PD 150 and a decent map. Oh yeh, and a clutch cause it wont last long lol

The ARL is the 150bhp engine in the leon cupra and golfs, PD is just the type of engine. Yours is a PD for instance, the fuel pump runs off the cam shaft and it uses these solenoid type injectors.

Oh ok however mine is a mark 2 Leon and I've been told by the seat dealer that the mark one Leon turbo manifold will not fit my car

derv doctor lists a stage 4 tune for the 1.9 for 300bhp and 400lbft, but its a huge amount of work and since your starting with a low spec model your going have to spend a lot of money on the suspension and brake set-ups.i wouldnt bother but hey knock yourself out your car.heard plenty of people say why bother tuning a cupra to 350-400, get an rs4, evo etc.everyone has sumat to say when you tune a car.

Well said!

I'm not trying to get 300 bhp out of my car after all it is only my work horse however I would like to get to work a bit quicker at times so an extra 50 or so bhp would be great
