Most of the engine problems are probably from the high power Twincharged 1.4 engines, which are notoriously poor across all VW brands.
Otherwise the Ibiza MK5 seems pretty sound to me.

No vote since I haven't owned a Fiesta.

I rented a 2010 Fiesta diesel, it was a good drive for sure, much better than a similar vintage Opel Corsa, but I like really like the way the Ibiza drives.The interior of the 2010 Fiesta looks cheap and nasty too.

But are Twincharged 1.4 engines / 1.4boconegra still used in new Seat Ibiza models after 2017? And what about the Seat Arona?

And the above engine are only in some Seat Ibiza variants, not all of them?
