^^^^^^^metal type.........Aluminium

Yeah right, why do people think that ALLOY MEANS ALUMINUM

An alloy means a mixture of 2 or more metals where as aluminum is a metal in it's own right and aluminum wheels cost a lot more than £240

ooopps! Sorry, my error, I didn't actually read the ad, just saw the title and pic.

I really like the SX alloys, i dont think they're appreciated enough to be honest though some FR wheels would go down a treat ;)

Cheers btw mate, much appreciated. i havent done as much as i'd like though, still plenty left to do :) i just love the colour, its nice to have something a bit different. the volcano red is quite a rarity, i think ive only seen one other member with the same colour in a mk4

I love my 1.2, its been pretty reliable, mines done 73k. only thing ive had to change is the suspension bushes since i had it. its decently economical, i usually get around 300 miles out of a tank. only thing is having a 1.2 a quite heavy car you do have to push it to get something out of it. only thing i'd change is it being a bit quicker. i love the noise it makes around 3000rpm+ though

Its a very nice colour, im not sure if i have even seen another, not that i can think of. For some reason earlier Mk4s seem to be that pale green, pale blue or red, so its nice to see a change!

Actually i have driven 2 1.2 Ibizas, i had one for 3 months from the Seat dealer, while they were busy ruining my poor little Arosa :(. It was brand new when they gave me it, an 05 reg 1.2 SX 5 door in anthracite. I loved it, i did a quite a few miles in it over the 3 months, i took it everywhere from Kent to Scotland and everywhere inbetween! Even did 750 miles in it in one day and took it to scotland with 3 of us and lots of lugage for a weeks holiday. I think i took it back with 5K miles, it had 20 miles on when i got it . Still it serves them right for having my car so long, they sold it almost as soon as i took it back.

Great cars, and a very nice engine is the 1.2, from what i can remember of it, it was a nearly 4 years ago. I need something cheap to keep and run while im at uni, so im condiering one myself. The arosa Tdi i had was too small and no Air Con, an ibiza would be a good option.

Those 16" alloys there look like Leon/Toledo wheels? Might need to fit smaller tyre to those for a swap onto an Ibiza.

cant say ive seen any green mk4s tbh, sounds interesting

5k miles in 3 months? bloody hell you must of liked that car :p sounds like they took their time. i wouldnt mind having a new car for 3 months though

2 things i like about the engine are its very quiet when youre driving normally but as soon as you put your foot down it growls, just wish mine was a little faster, id be happy with even just 10 more HP. sounds like a pretty good idea mate, i love mine. half the time i spend admiring my mk4 lol

yeah they're toledo wheels but they should be fine for a mk4, don't forget the FR wheels are also 16"

Hi guys, I pick the car up tomorrow!!

Thinking of getting this for it:

sextonsdirect.co.uk/alpine/p~CDE104BTi.html?cat=0 (URL removed because less than 15 posts)

Is this easy to fit? Anygood? Do I need anything extra to fit it?

Thanks!

Can't go wrong with alpines really, but order it from www.caraudiodirect.co.uk
It is the same price but there is a code someone in these forums that give you free delivery

You would also have to get a signal booster for the aerial as the factory radio has the booster within it

Stezo: I think its called Aqua Green, i seem to see quite a lot that colour. I looked at one in the seat dealer yesterday, though it looked to be two shades of Aqua green - not an easy colour to match then! There is also the darker green, which i have rarely seen.

Yes i did get around in that car, it was scortching hot that summer too, so it was nice to have the climate control - really like the spec on the 1.2 SX Ibiza. I kind of wish i could have bought that car.
My Arosa was getting played around with by the Seat dealer who knew absolutely nothing about engines. They knew so little that by the time they had finished it was much much worse. So i complained to SeatUK who requested the dealer put in a new engine. So thats what they did, a new engine under warranty. Its not as if it even needed one, having done only 25K miles and being only 2 years old. So now i dont trust dealers all that much [:@]

Anyway, back to Ibizas...

I keep thinking will a 1.2 be enough, but the 1.4 75 doesnt sound as though it has as much character or much more performance. I love driving my 1.0 Arosa, very simple little car, very light and chuckable with good economy when you try for it. So if an Ibiza is like that but with more spec (cant get arosas with A/C), an engine with character and a bit more performance, better MPG (1.0 does 38-42), more refined at speed and more space, then i cant really go wrong.

Need to drive a 1.2 Ibiza again, to remind myself what they are like.

Acksaw: Good luck with your new Ibiza :D Is it your first car?

What do people think to the 1.2 Ibizas? Reliable, Economical, Performance?

Reliable? For sure. Had mine over a year now, and it's been ragged as hard as it will go weekly. Nothing has broken. Not a thing. Mine's 02 plated as well, so slightly older. On the MOT all it needed was a handbrake adjustment :p

Economy? Mine's on the low side, but it's almost always driven in town, with the fastest roads being sign posted at 50. On a trip to thorpe park last week, it did 110 miles round trip on a 1/4 tank - so, that worked out at a quite impressive 50mpg. I really didn't know the car could do that...anyway - so it depends largely how/where it will be driven.

Performance? Well the thing is, it's a car that's very tempting to push because it's so controllable, the suspension set up seems very good. However - I often find myself wanting a little more power, and the brakes could be harder - that said, mine doesn't have ABS.

Aksaw: Your new Ibiza looks very tidy, looks a well cared for example.

Is that called Imperial blue? It was always one of the best colours for Arosas imo. Looks great on the Ibizas too [B)]

Thanks for that, good info there. Seems the timing chain and the occasional coil pack failure is all there is to worry about with the 1.2s.

Thats what i love about small light cars with small engines. You can really chuck them about and drive them for all it has and still be almost legal  IMO they are often more fun to drive than larger, faster cars.

I drove a Ibiza 1.9TDi 130 Sport yesterday, very nice, but suspension on the sport is obviously an option. It would have been more comfy sat in a shopping trolly  Dont think a sport is for me, not if they are all as hard and crashy as that one. Mind the pull of the 130 is very nice, id find it hard to keep tyres on it though! Will try a 1.2 again, they are, for some odd reason, very appealing

Have to say I agree with that. I've driven a mates tdi 130 and whilst the pull and torque put a smile on my face, I found the ride a bit harsh compared to my 1.4 dab.
