Im looking at buying an 05 seat ibiza fr with a cupra bodykit fitted.

Am i wise in buying the car if it hasnt got a front mounted intercooler fitted?

If it hadnt the front mounted intercooler fitted, what is the worst that would happen?

I would be planning to remap it in the future!

thanks

Worst that could happen is lots of heatsoak and no performance especially if you plan on getting a remap.

If the car has not got the FMIC fitted, am i safer to save the hassle and not buy the car?

Depends which you want more really. Do you want the Cupra looks or the perfomance that you should have? You could always buy the car and then fit a FMIC afterwards?

I have the Forge Front mount intercooler on my fr with cupra bumpers and would definalty recomend it. if your cant afford to buy the FMIC you can always take out the drivers side fog light so the air can flow through to the SMIC

will it not look a bit crap then.

Am really buying the car for the looks but with the performance of the fr.

If i were to buy the fr with the facelift bumpers it wud cost more.

i am more just worried about the consequences if a FMIC wasnt fitted.

Does an FMIC improve the performance any?

Wud your insurance go up if you were to declare one fitted or wud it not affect the performance?

to be honest i dont think you will notice any drop in performance if you keep the car std, if you remap it then i would definalty put a FMIC on to keep the temps down otherwise the car will pull back.

it depends if you declare it, its not really a performace modification but it depends who you insure the car with. i would image the insurance will charge you extra as its a modification

Would you's recommend removing the fog light (which side is it at?) to get more cold air to the intercooler? Is this an easy job? Because I can notice a difference when the weather is hot, the car seems less willing!

The std intercooler is on the drivers side. on the cupra bumpers you just need realise the fog light surround and unclip the foglight.

i would just go with the facelifted Fr bumper and save the hastle of heatsoak etc.. you will care about performance if it goes into limp mode with hardly any power at all... my Tdi wont go past 2k in limp mode!

me personally i would buy&fit the fmic first as performance comes first imo then when i could get the money together i would fit the cupra bumper.
