As title really, what are they like as a day to day car?

I have a Boc at the moment, but I'm in the process of buying/moving into my first house, so needs must and I need a cheaper car! Tax/Insurance etc will be a lot less and need to save where I can! Looking a buying Brand New!

I like the Ibiza which is why I kind of want to stick with one :D

Just peoples general opinion on this? I know it's not going to feel anything like the Boc, In terms of power etc, but it's not to bad of a downgrade I don't think!

Best route 2 go down would be diesel if u looking to save big time.Concerning the 1.2 tsi I have recently bought the wife the FR version and its a luvly motor although slightly thirstier than 1.2 Ibiza we replaced it with.Remember these are turbo charged engines so will drink a bit when flooring it.30 quid road tax too.

I don't really fancy a diesel. Partly because they are more expensive to buy new and I just don't like the feel of them haha! I do a 20 mile round trip to work everyday and manage 38-40mpg in the Boc on 50mph B roads, so I'm sure the little 1.2 Turbo will better that!

Thanks for your response!

Not much though.Mid 40's that's all, maybe creeping up to early 50's on a good run if you keep ya foot off the gas.
Quite good power though.

I've had my 1.2 FR for almost 5 months now and love it to bits, I bought it from new and chose it based on it being pretty cheap to run but still nippy enough to have fun as had I recently bought a house too.

I do 60 miles a day to and from work (mostly single carriageway few roundabouts etc) and usually get 40-45mpg. It's quick enough off the lights and in 2nd gear you feel the turbo most so plenty of fun :)

I haven't had any issues so far (touchwood) so day to day really pleased.

Glad to help :) I had a mk4 1.4 sport before which served me well but still felt the Ibiza was the most suitable and practical car for me and so went for the mk5

Hi Folks,

I've just registered to post as I've just got myself a 12 plate Ibiza FR 1.2 TSI after being in the same boat as you.. I looked at loads and last week found a dealer with one I wanted. Nevada white, 3 door, 17" wheels and bluetooth and usb etc.

I came from a 230bhp A3 1.8t so was prepared for the reduced performance but the TSI really is good to drive. It makes me drive better as im not relying on a huge surge of boost to get me away etc. Keep the revs up and its a hoot. It's good on handling, comfort is fine even on the 17's (the A3 was slammed though) and the economy averages out at about 45mpg around town.

I got mine as my old car was getting on and costing a fortune in fuel and MOTs, I was a bit worried about having a car with half the power of my old one but its really not caused an issue.

Im sure it wont be too much of a step down from your BOC, nearly new is the way to go though, I paid £8400 from a main dealer for mine with 15k on the clock and its a minter :)

Happy hunting!

I was getting about that in my Leon 150 FR tdi, I have also just changed to a 1.2 tsi Ibiza, as I am not doing the mileage any more. Not been far yet, but love it :funk:

Thanks for letting me know, but I'll be financing the car as I don't have cash outright, wish I did!
