I got mine changed at 38000 because I got a letter from SEAT saying they'd changed the interval to 4 years.... but it wasn't really worn at that point. They change the water pump as well I believe. Quite costly....!

I think it might be 40k miles or every 4 years on the petrol, not too sure. On the derv's most people go by 60k miles or every 4 years.

It's best practice to change the waterpump when the timing belt is done because you have to strip the whole lot to get into the pump if that was to go. Also, the original pumps have a plastic impellar which is more prone to fail than the metal impellar pump which you should replace it with.

Prices vary from approx £250-700, to avoid the larger end of the scale - Don't go to the dealers! I got mine done at the start of the year: Timing belt, waterpump and 60k service for £320 :)

Found this thread in a search so a quick update:

Just had this quote from my local garage (Peterborough) for my 1.4 Ibiza SE (2002), haven't had it done since 08 so i'm a year behind but my mileage is way below 60k since then:

These are for parts labour and VAT

Cambelt kit including water pump anti freeze and aux belt costs £ 250.80 inc VAT

Edit: I always spell update as udpate first time round :(

DAZED007, yes Seat seem to be quite good/fair about charging level for routine jobs - that is a lot more than VW do as far as I can make out! (I need to get that job done on my daughter's newer model 1.4SE S/C later this year so I hope they keep that menu pricing in place). To date I have always taken my wife's 9N Polo 1.4SE to a VAG indie for belt changes as VW's prices were very high.

Hi I have a seat ibiza 1.4 petrol 2011, engine CGGB
Is cambelt change 40000miles? Thanks

First, as your car is a 2011 model you should be posting in the Mk5 section of this forum. Second, as your engine code is CGGB it is a later version of the BXW and so I'll assume that the cambelt etc should be replaced at 4 years or maybe 60000 miles - which ever arrives first, though personally if it is at 40000 miles maybe just get it done now.
