I'm taking my LCR in to Listers for some warranty work before my car is 3 years old (its got a knocking noise when turning right).
I should be having a courtesy car for a couple of days, but they asked me if my insurance covers driving other cars fully comp... after checking, mine only covers driving other cars 3rd party, so do the dealers normally offer some sort of insurance deal?
Once at VW they told me if I paid a fiver then they'd waive a £1000 excess if I damaged it!

is this down to specific dealer policies, or is there a standard?

cheers

Mike

:-o oh dear oh dear, what warranty work is going on? as Listers are a bunch of :w4nk: they thrash the customers cars. Make sure you note your mileage, how much fuel you have left and go over the car completely before you give them your keys. The guy there Dan is a complete little *****. When i took my car there last (see here http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=105657&page=2&highlight=listers )

As for the curtacy car insurance, be cheaper to do it through listers, as they only charge £10. Just be ware of what could possibly happen to your car. I go to college with one of there apprentices, if you give me your reg no. by pm ill get his mobile number and ring him to see what your car has been treated like.

Never heard of that one. If your own insurance is fully comp, your TPF&T on other vehicles (as you already know).

Never been aked that when i've had a c/car. Always been offered the excess waiver though.

thanks for the responses guys.

I looked into which dealer to take it to, Colliers have a terrible record from what I've read on here, and not much better for droitwich. I was going to take it to droitwich because its closer to me, however I need a courtesy car and Listers could book me in soonest.
I bought the car from them, although after I got the last service done there I decided it wouldnt be going back for any more paid work. they did a few stupid things that annoyed me and gave me some bullsh*t... I don't know Dan, but I spoke to James on service.

I'm tempted to put my car into some sort of 'wimp' mode on the revo before I take it in lol!

As for the work, its a knocking noise that only happens when going forwards and turning right (more than approx half a turn of the wheel). I've had a few suggestions as to what it might be but i'll find out soon...

i'll send you a pm triple d, thanks for that ;)

Make sure you turn revo off if you have an sps switch mate, and do not let them no about it as they will abuse it even more.

Pm replied to BTW ;)

MC - Where are you from? I live in droitwich! lol

Are you talking of Listers in Worcester - as in the Audi & VW dealer? If so James is a good mate of mine.

Dad sent his Altea to Colliers but its a company car, however mine needs a service and i have the same problem, there are no specialists or decent garages around here!!

Chris 16V - I'm in southwest Birmingham, and I was talking about the listers in Coventry.

It's certainly not easy to find a good dealer, the service you get seems pretty variable. I'm going to stay away from dealers and try Midland VW next service as they've been recommended.

I have to say Listers did a good job of preparing my car when I bought it, but after the last service the 'free vac' was non-existent, and the car wasn't even clean.

Triple D - yes the sps will be in use tomorrow!

just because you have fully comp insurance does NOT mean you definately have 3rd party cover to drive other cars.

some companies, particularly those popular on here, remove this part of the policy.
be careful.

Bang In The Middle.
try francis seat in leicester.
jus down the road.
i wont take mine back to listers cov, as they made slight dent on top of roof. when Qs they said it could have been me!

any-way it should be £10 on listers insurance but 3rd party on yours (about £10 again) (unless otherwise stated)
go for what you want

I had one seat garage (somewhere up stockton-on-tees way) that wouldnt take a payment to waive the £1000 excess, so I put it on my own insurance which was about a tenner like you say.

if you have an accident on the dealers insurance then you wont lose any no-claims bonus will you?

Cov Listers are dire and should be avoided if you value your car and getting a job done properly. I bought new from them and had to go back with a few issues but never again.
Just had my first service at Francis in Leicester and they were worlds apart from Listers. Nice people and good customer service, did nt even kick up a fuss when I requested I was present during the test drive. The tech could nt believe the sh*t Listers had pulled.
