I found my mk1 Cupra R 225 from looking at the SEAT Approved used cars, the only trouble was that it was way up in Newcastle, and i was down in Kent.

However, i made the trip and the car was, and still is, spot on. They put new brakes on all round, and a set of new tyres, so that was good.

No problems so far, and its been more than 4 years now.

What is it with sales managers using the cars as their daily run arounds?

The second i was told by my local dealer that the car i wanted to test drive wasnt available at the moment because the sales manager was out at lunch and using it as his run around, i told them not to bother and id go looking elsewhere!

Why cant they keep the good stock on the forecourt, instead of letting some muppet drive it everywhere - sales guys should be given the 1.2 ibiza S

Grrr

Yesterday, I bought a used approved Seat Leon FR TDI form my not so local dealer... Cant wait to pick it up! :D

That looks very nice. Can I ask how much you paid?

I've found a 2010/10 Leon 2.0TSI FR, 11,400 miles, for which the Main Dealer wants £14,250 to include 6-months road tax. Parkers says that price is a tad high - what does the team think?

Is a tad high, current glasses guide is £12900 as a p/x base spec so £13500-£13700 seems a reasonable price to pay for it.

Thanks for the info.

I should have mentioned that I'm a cash buyer, as I've already sold my current car. I assume that puts me in a better bargaining position.

The FR doesn't seem to have any extras, apart from rear parking sensors.

Hi

Its a Leon FR TDI not a TSI but in the end I paid £16,600, good for me as it has all the extras like sat nav, parking sensors front and rear, blue tooth, 18 inch alloys in black and Bi Xenons not to mention other stuff I might have missed! Plus I really like the FR in red so its win win. Only thing I wanted was leather.

I think for the price and after doing a lot of looking around and phoning about plus a few viewing I think this is a great deal IMO, esp for a 7 month old 60 reg car.

Also got them to throw in the first service too. Car drives and looks brand new - very happy! :)

I too am a cash buyer but in my eyes, I need the car for August otherwise I would of looked at ordering a new FR+ from drive the dealer bust estimated deliver was Sept 30th and as its a company car I cant wait.

Yeah, hence its cost me £16.6 instead of about £18k like most Leons with the spec.

You find me another 60 reg TDI FR with all the extras this has for less than £17k.

Anyway, its a company car, it has 2 years and 5 months more warranty and it will be sold on in two years anyway. :)

True, but mine arrived with optional interior, alacantra white inserts and 18" optional wheels unsure of the name of alloy. bought it for £16k and extra really don't mean much to me as long as I have my ipod connection im happy and it's generally low mileage for it's age. Plus extras add very little to the resale value.

I prefer a higher-than-average mileage for the age, rather than suspiciously-low mileage for the age. Unless it's been a taxi, a high mileage often means it's mainly seen long journeys which is much better than a car that's rarely been warmed up properly doing only short trips.

I believe the average mileage is 12k per year. So 10k in 7 months isn't very high IMHO. :)

Low mileage for it's age is a good thing, as with mine it was used as a demo then the sales manager's car and he only lived 15 minutes from the dealership  I prefer the low miles as I'd be racking fairly serious mileage on it. Sitting pretty at short of 8k and I've had it two months.

Well I've bought the car and am over the moon with it. I always pick a car on spec and condition rather than a few thousand miles difference as by the time uv finished with it it won't make a huge difference. And sure the options won't make it's resale value much more but I bet it will stand out as the better deal with the extras in 3 years so it's easier to shift.

As it's a company car it's perfect for me.

There is something very unsettling about the SEAT [Approved] Used Cars pricing policy.

There were three identical spec (except for mileage) 2.0TSI FRs on the SEAT website.

Originally (about 3-4 weeks ago) they were priced at:

2010/10, 5,918 miles - priced at £14,950.
2010/10, 8,304 miles - priced at £14,950
2010/10, 11,311 miles - priced at £14,250.

Last week the prices changed to:

2010/10, 5,918 miles - priced at £14,450 (down £500)
2010/10, 8,304 miles - priced at £14,750 (down £200)
2010/10, 11,311 miles - priced at £14,550 (up £300)

Now the car that has only done 5,918 miles is cheaper than the other two higher mileage cars!

Shortly after the price change, the 2010/10, 5,918 mile, 2.0TSI FR was removed from the website. (I presumed it had been sold).

I'm registered for SEAT Used Car Alerts and today I received an email offering me the 2010/10, 5,918 mile 2.0TSI FR for £13,999 (down another £451). It was a completely useless Used Car Alert email because it didn't give a link to the car and I can't find the car on the SEAT [Approved] Used Cars webpage, so I couldn't buy it if I wanted to.

Is this how SEAT usually operate, or do they sometimes get their act together?

Last week I also sent SEAT an email via their 'Contact Us' webpage. They haven't bothered to respond. Is this indicative of their usual level of customer care?

Yeah I've seen that a fee times actually,I'm looking out for a fl cupra, some cars with 5k miles are cheaper than ones with 17k miles. I see sometimes that they're usually cheaper the further north they are in the UK.
