When I first looked at my Toledo at the dealers there was a few faint scratches which they sorted for when I picked it up.
I've had it for a couple of months now and when washing it I've noticed some scratches coming back through.
Is T-cut the best way to solve this or can anyone recommend something else that'll do the job??

Cheers,

I think the trouble with T-Cut is, it's too harsh for 'hand-use'.

There have been a few tests done over on other websites with T-Cut and the use of a rotary pollishers; the abrasives (as hoped..) cut into the paint, but the heat and worktime of the machine helped refine it further making a sharper, 'cleaner' finish.

If you go nuts with it by hand and manage to remove the scratch, or atleast round-it off, chances are you've actually inflicted hundreds and thousands of smaller scratches in the area worked at the same time. Unless you follow this with a finer polish that can be used by hand (Megs Scratch X or Ultimate Compound? *shrugs*), which can then correct the scratches left by the T-Cut.

I'm not the best when it comes to advise for hand polishing tbh. AutoGlym Super Resin Polish is an option for the light surface swirling as it has abrasives in, but also many fillers! (So, it fills rather than 'cuts')

Thanks Jim,

I use the Autoglym super resin polish already. The scratches are a bit swirly and basicaly quite random around the car. Not that deep which is why t-cut came to mind? There are a couple of deeper scratches but they're are for another day.

I might have a look for a machine polisher to save doing it by hand if the results are better?

Had a look at your site, nice work!!!

Hoping to have a go at sorting it next week, so fingers crossed??

Cheers, Tony

machine polishers are fine aslong as you use them with caution
ive seen what they can do in the wrong hands, its auful seen a mint mk4 golf turn in to a shitter in 1 day. All it took was one chump and a machine polisher.

i would rather put the work in by hand with a finer polish + a weekend than tempt fate using a machine
