SatNav SD card update

It came out on the 20th last year on the VW site so you might be out of luck.
Basically the Seat side are really late, so Seat folk not in the know get something that's been out months and think it's new. Skoda follows two weeks or so after VW. The Plus material comes out to time and tends to go onto the Skoda site first. That's happened so we're waiting for VW on the standard.

No they didn't fill that bit in correctly. It was rushed out quickly by VW in January when VW people got upset by the zoned release. In March the identical file was released on Skoda servers but with a couple of check bit files left in, but identical on the actual map data. Seat dragging it's feat hasn't released it.
It's possible to edit it to whatever you like. On the Navigation thread I referenced the bits you edit after others said they had. It was in the original workaround material. But it doesn't need editting as such it's just used for screen filling information. It's the product part which should show a Seat part number rather than VW

That will also be interesting to see what they do with the all European release, whether they tidy up this loose end. Why they zoned might be for connect services that aren't supported on Seat but on VW and Skoda where you can upload over the air direct into the unit, or it was considered the maps will out grow the 16gb card. The Skoda site says you can only use the all European file if you have a 32gb card. That may be a clue or a red herring as to the direction of what is going on, but at the minute the all Europe card data fits on a 16gb card as it always did... least so far.

Do you know if the rear USB port can be made as data port for apple car play or is it a wiring issue rather than ODB?
The front ones can be toggled with VCDS / Obdeleven in how they work. I guess if you are finding just power only then they aren't connected directly to the infotainment unit.
Probably on the Erwin site you can find the wiring diagram which shows they just run off a 12volt supply and transformer. On the Ateca side I gave the link to Erwin. It's useful to download all the PDF stuff... like having a big Haynes manual, also get the build codes from the Vin. £8 or so an hour.

Think you might be out of luck for a clean drive to Croatia with the June maps released today. Zoned to 1-3. It's possible that they might get the all Europe release out as they did before - dunno.

Tarraco specific SD card upgrade steps:
1. Safely remove the SD card from the Tarraco (Menu > Setup > Safely Remove)
2. Go to https://webspecial.volkswagen.de/vwinfo ... s-download#/ and select:
Car: Tiguan All Space (From 2019)
Unit: Discover Media
3. Download the map pack (Europe 1 at 13GB is the one I went for and will fit on the V7 SD card, and likely other versions)
4. The file you download is a .7z file, how to unzip depends on the operating system:
Mac: Use The Unarchiver (Free on Mac App Store)
Windows: Use 7-zip free download from https://www.7-zip.org
5. Copy the contents of the SD card taken from the Tarraco to your PC, it should have a folder called maps with several folders underneath it.
6. Make a second copy of a single file on the SD card, called OVERALL.NDS (it's in /maps/EEC/EEC_WLD/OVERALL.NDS) and keep this handy
7. Delete (don't format) the contents of the SD card
8. Unzip the 7Z file contents onto your PC/Mac
9. In the newly unzipped download maps folder, locate the OVERALL.NDS and overwrite it with the one you saved from the car's SD card in step 6 above
10. Copy the new maps folder (containing the new maps files and your old OVERALL.NDS) back onto the now empty SD card
11. Back in the Tarraco, reboot the unit without the card inserted by holding down the volume until the SEAT logo appears
12. Once rebooted, ignition back off and insert SD card, and enjoy!
A few points to note:
The SD card itself is tied to the vehicle, so you have to overwrite the files on the existing SD card not just buy a new card and write to that, otherwise the car won't accept the card.
Also make sure you back up the full maps folder from the card when you first put it in your PC/Mac in case anything goes wrong, you can simply put it back on the card and revert back to the original maps.

Yours only covers mib2 standard for the short period it was on Tarraco prior to mib3. Mib2 high (plus) was fitted to non UK Tarracos. We do the lost cards, screwed up losing the overall.nds file, exporting them abroad etc etc. Basically everything you need to know about mib2 and mib1 comes from the user experience on the Leon 3 thread. Stefan was the work around guy who's work is published across boards as other people's across Europe. Mib3 remains a blank piece of paper.
BTW. The SD card isn't tied to the vehicle the release of the map is, what is in the release overall.nds file common to that release is the link - the unit pairs on that. Shifting that between release forward fools Mapcare as there is a moving hierarchy in that file. It's encrypted but moves down within the file between releases. Hence why if you loose your overall.nds file you move to year 1 of mib2 on Seat mib2 roll out. Not joined up thinking in the design.
All VAG cards have the CID that both mib1 and mib2 units accept so if you loose a card you can buy any VAG card and use a historic download to get the unit working again then do the map update with the workaround. Second hand cars get sold without the cards. That's the fix for that or where people blindly follow the Seat site and ignore the bit that says you cant follow these instructions without mapcare that isnt sold in the UK.
Currently the all Europe map fits on the 16gb SD cards although if that changes and you have a need to drive across Europe you buy a 32gb Skoda card. 2025 June is likely to be the last update for mib2 linked to the 5 year life cycle of mib and what Vag has said about map updates. Four more years of happy map updates for the mib2 standard.
On to release 1730, the June 2021 standard mib2 release (pre face lifted), see post 2407, should open up on it, plus the resource .

The all Europe release has popped the 16gb Seat cards. If not driving across Europe use one of the other European zoned releases detailed or procure a Skoda 32gb card. Details over there. They may be short supply of these, these days. Mind you with Covid unlikely to be driving across Europe.
