OK, the car I've got has had a black Samco tip fitted to it (TCS1523)... Just got a few questions basically, is there any problems with fitting the Mk4 Golf tips, anything that may need to be looked at checked regularly?

How exactly do you go about installing it, is there anything that needs blocking off, etc?

I fitted the tip to that car, I spaced the water pipe slightly so that the tip didnt rub. The only thing that I didnt do was connect it up at the turbo end as I heard it was hard and needed some modification to the pipe. I stuffed some newspaper over the turbo housing and carefully wrapped some duck tape over it to stop water getting in bleh: :p

These are the pictures I took earlier highlighing the blocked off pipe, and locating the origin of the pipe.

Basically here's the pipe that has been blocked off with a rivert;

The pipe can be traced back to this unit on the top of the engine, what is this unit?? Is this pipe needed or is it best discarded?

And here's a picture of the tip, I already knew that their was one excess pipe that had to be blocked off, and as you can see from the picture it's been blocked off with a boly and a small jubilee clip.

If anyone had any advice about the small pipe / unit on the top of the engine it'd be mucho appriciated!

As far as I know, no it's the K03. I had a feeling it may have been the N249 as i've heard of people blocking them off before. The pipework is fine it's the wrapping thats shagged (checked that myself when I saw it!), where does it normally connect to when connected?

Thank's Martyn, one thing though... without going to my engine may and looking again where does it connect to? Luckily I have Ross-Tech's VAG-COM so can do some proper analysis non of this "I think it'd better, it feels it" stuff!

Ive taken all my n249 stuff off, and re-plumbed the lot with 3mm silicone.

I think the rivited pipe should be t-pieced into the pipe coming from the sec air valve around to the silver canister on the side of the block, under the n75.

The 249 thing is a piece of piss, you can rebolt the valve to the back of the black and skip the diy botched resistor thing

Cheers Martyn, after reading that I see you meant keep it bypassed from the N249 instead of just replacing my pipework! Going to go have another look at the engine bay now...

Any ideas wheres the best place to get the pipework and t-piece, local motor factors or did you have to go to the likes of Forge, Samco for it?
