Looking to give my engine bay a general clean so it looks pristine, any advice anyone can give me please? I'm hearing to avoid steam clean whilst some are saying it's fine to do. Others are hose it down whilst covering up electrics; bit concerened about going near it with a hose.
Anyone got advice or can speak from experience?
I bought a litre bottle of autoglym engine cleaner I'm yet to use

I only have my lcr a few weeks I've always had Hondas just put a plastic bag around the distributor and power wash away but with the seat I'd be very reluctant even do everything would be ip rated to an extent there's so much electrically going on in there :/ I'm going to detail my bay with as u said autoglym degreaser and a rag will be time consuming but a safer bet just opinion :)

Just blast it I do mine regularly, don't spray direct onto electrics, fused parts, alternator, sensors, coil packs etc and you'll be fine,do it with the engine running

Jet wash with some Wheel acid, then some autosmart Finish on the plastics. Comes up a treat!

I'm hesitating to her wash mine. Might just cover up all electrics and quickly jet wash most of it.

Carrier bags / tin foil things you dot want wet. Spray all the bits you do want wet. Not fecked one yet. At work we leave them running, and if they conk out, you know you sprayed something you shouldn't have

Halfords silicone spray on the plastic covers and rubber hoses makes them come up like new.

That's all I use for cleaning under the bay
