Safe to charge a Cupra K1 battery? Odd problem

Hey guys,

Had my Cupra K1 since July and my battery died on me. I was away for 3 days, came back and absolutely no life in it whatsoever, no dashboard lights, no response at all.

Anyhow, I was reading in the manual that the battery should be charged under controlled conditions by a garage. Is this really such an issue, or is the manual trying to be overly cautious?

The problem being, my car's booked in for repair on tuesday, but I obviously need it up and working to get there. I was told on the phone something about AA, is it standard to have been given AA membership for 2 years when buying the car? As I can't find anything in my paperwork about it.

So, I need some way to get the car started, ideally using my battery charger or giving the AA a call if I do indeed have a membership with them from Seat.

Help much needed, thanks in advance!

I just thought someone here might've charged their battery of a New Leon Cupra and might be able to shed some light without me having to wait until tomorrow to phone, as I suspect they'll be closed now and I'm too fed up to talk on the phone (lol poor me).

even if they cant get it started they should recover it to a seat dealer. hopefully your nearest one will be the same one your booked into.

Alright thanks, I'm confused as to why my dealer (which is the one I bought from, my nearest and the one it's booked into) mentioned the AA then. I'll phone up tomorrow and clear it all up I'm sure.

Ha well I didn't leave the interior light on, that's for sure, so it must've been the racing with chavs

Erm, sorry for the double post but I've just been speaking to a friend...

Basically, I don't even have central locking or an interior light etc., absolutely nothing. My mate says that the central locking should still work, unless the battery is completely and utterly dead, which would be a very unlikely scenario.

Is this true? What could be the cause...is my battery just a gonner (after only a few months!?) or could there be a bigger issue?

Battery could well be a crapper, it's not unheard of. Some can be faulty even on new cars.

I'd get them to replace the battery and see how you get on.

your new car comes with 2 year seat assist ie recovery service phone no. inside manual on front cover, it could be the door control motors faulty

I think if you do they auto go off after about 15 mins approx, my old MKIV Golf did.
