I pick up the car in a couple of weeks ( getting giddy now:D ) how would you recommend i run it in? follow the manual or give it some stick? ( once warmed up )

Any hints and tips for any aspect of the car will be great!

PS ive never had a BRAND new car before!

Thanks

Cupra averaged 41mpg once
with my Cupra, seeing as it would be with me for 3yrs (longest car ownership), I managed to hold out until 850miles before doing any hard acceleration. Didn't take me long to reach that as I went to Swansea for a day (cruise control at 70-75mph on M-way) which helped rack up the miles. When I did floor it. It was worth the wait.

Not sure if i can wait for 850 mile's, it'll take a month Lol.

Ive heard if you give em some stick ( once warm ) you tend to get a faster engaine?, but i don't want to damage it all the same!

What about changing oil and oil filter after a couple of K ?

if, from new, you rev it hard, you do get a bit more power BUT you'll increase the chance of problems later on in its life. I'd wait until at least 600miles just so everything can 'bed-in' then build up your revs and speed. then when 800-850miles are on the clock, find a nice long straight and accelerate hard to 6500-7000rpm. you will not be dissapointed. If you'll be using the car regularly then the miles will soon add up
I do approx 5-6k miles per year in my cars (I have a van for work) so oil gets changed at yearly service

Just spoken to the dealer the Cupra is due there end of this week, sould be fine to pick the car up end of next week once all my bit's are on!:D

I asked him about running it in and he told me to, cain it from the off ( once warm ) higher revs help to loosen it up ( making it faster ) and give better fuel return?

On our test drive he told me he used to race cars and he never minded when i put my fot down A LOT ! :)

Thanks

I don't think your gonna change the oil then after 500mile if it's a company car Lol

Sam the salesman is sound and Gary the manager is a top bloke too ( he took my out , and used to race car's )

I'm living in Stockport ( from Salford ) and the bloke at Stockport just looked at me like i couldn't affored a 20,000 k car , and Bury , a pushy snotty nosed kidd who was 1 hour late for a pre arranged test drive GGGGGRRRRRRRR

I got the same.
They even started an argument with me once (I said I hadn't been there before because I wanted to deal with another person, they produced a piece of paper with my details on and said "whats this then?"

He's the best one there too!
I was talking to him once about buying a Cupra, and one of the other salesmen came out and said "oh your back are you?" because I had looked at a yellow cupra before and not bought it.

In the end, I (like everyone else does) went to David Cook - Oldham and was treated perfectly.

Who you going to believe the saleman or the people who make the cars, they obviously put it in the manual for a reason............

TBH i think you have too take both with a little pinch of salt!

Seat put there recomended running in time to cover there own back a bit imo, and the dealer is gonna tell you to enjoy the car!

I think the wise move would be to use a bit of both codes!

Yes it was, any chance you could remove the price from your post please? :)
I had a phone call from the dealer when someone asked about the price I paid after finding it out on here.
