Running in a new TDi

Firstly i have had a quick search as i know how annoying it is when things are repeated and returned nothing really, however feel free to throw links at me:)

I have ordered a new Ibiza FR Tdi 130 which is due on the 1st of March. Now I have never been able afford a brand new car before so im a little unsure on the whole running in a new engine process.

I have been about a bit and i know my fair share of engines etc....

My confusion comes from the normal instructions of keeping revs low, not sticking to the same cruising speed etc... for the first few thousand miles.

However clio owners of the 172/182 variety seem to think that a hard running in period has done their engine good in the long term and have produced more power etc....

On the saxo scene where im native its generally the low revs for a few k miles with some thick chip fat oil to run in that goes.

Then there are other recommendations all over about getting the car war, revving out in each gear etc.....

Since im totally new to the VAG engine im not sure what methods have or have not worked so whats the general concensus on running in new TDi's?

some may say lala land....
Hello and Welcome,
I'm not sure its such a requirement on new cars these days, but i always went with try not to go over 3k (petrol) revs for first 500mile and then increase at 1k per 500.
For diesel, guess about 2k for 1st 500 then increase, but maybe wrong, would be sufficient to bed in.
Your stealer may offer advice if you ask on your pickup day
